I'm thinking that you might have to invest in new glass. Or see if insurance will cover it

I have welded for over 40 yrs and your windshield is junk now. But instead of
your insurance carrier having to pay for the new glass and then raise your rates, what about going on the company who was welding. If your truck is required for your job the vender or whomever should have said that you should move it before proceeding.

Yes he should have firewatch and of course he going to say its not his fault. He should be aware of his sparks. If he couldnt find you to have you move your truck and he knew your truck was there he should have throw a fire blanket over it. If you have a good insurance company id call them and ask them about persuing it. In KY the replace one piece of glass a year without raising your rates. That might be an option.

I seem to remember that OSHA required a firewatch while welding inside.

Yes I echo about having your insurance pursue his company. Not wanting to have someone move a vehicle because is he too dang lazy is dumb on his part. Not sure what you do for work but I would ask him to move his vehicle over so you can slop your job allover his then and see how he feels. If I did that I would feel bad, and want to make it right. But in this day now people just dont give a dang and say its not my fault. That is like saying I did not know the gun was loaded and then shooting your self.

"Wheres your SIGN?"

Do it FAST!!!

You now have residual stresses and it will break unexpectedly, like loading something into a trailer a week later. Then, you'll never get all the glass out.

Wanna ask me how I know this?

I had/have an old flatbed, and while welding on the headache rack, a piece of slag got the window, and burned a little pocket in it. It broke the next weekend when my Father in Law put some manure in a trailer. Just enough shock to completely shatter it.

I still find glass in there from time to time.
