Don't know the actual temp (stock guage doesn't move), but it is enough to start the engine when it is really friggin' cold up North here (-35 C).

I've had my temp gauge read just over 160 deg. Then 3 seconds after started the temp drops below 160.

Brianteel, GM doesn't advise using it unless it is well below freezing and some say it is best to put it on a timer so it doesn't stay on for more than a couple of hours. I have never used mine and I have started the truck with no prob when it has sat in single digets all day.

Just an FYI, there is an updated plug for the P0181 code. The new cord has a thermostatic switch in it that only turns on when the temp is 0F and colder no mater when the truck is plugged in. GM part number is 10369173. SI Doc ID is 1822793. HTH...

how is the block heater routed on the dmax? a probe in the block?
