Has anyone one heard about this new engine coming out? From what i've heard its supposed to be in the new body style....Makes me kinda curious of what this could bring to the table.

I wonder if it's going to be the new RPO code for the 2007 ULSD fuel engine.

:exactly: LMM is the new RPO. Will contain all of the 2007 emmissions equipment. Basic hardware is the LBZ, just exhaust and programming updated.

I'm buying a new truck, I am hoping the first 2007's have the LBZ. I need to take this truck into Central America. i dont' think ultra low suphur fuel will be easy to find there.

I didn't wait. I bought a 2006. The still don't have a definate delivery date for the 2007's, last I knew anyway, so I didn't want to be in limbo waiting for a truck..
Like everybody said, plan on lots of emission stuff..

IIRC the first of the 2007's will be the Silverado Classic and will have an LBZ (no ULSD emmisions equipment) to give gas stations a chance to universalize ULSD...because remember pre 2007 diesels can use any diesel, 2007+ diesels can ONLY use ULSD. Then for the second half of 2007, when the -900 HD comes out, and ULSD has had a chance to become widespread, they will switch to the LMM. I bet the LMM will have a new ECM and TCM too (or at least a completely different calibration/OS)...because J1850/Class II is getting abandond in favor of Low Speed GMLAN on the -900's.

I just had my Tech 2 updated with teh latest updates and I plugged it in and sure enough if I selct 2007, both Silverado and Silverado Classic show up...If I select Silverado Classic, only the LBZ shows up.

im 99% sure it can. As I said on the latest Tech 2 updates, if you select MY2007--->SILVERADO CLASSIC--->POWERTRAIN the only diesel selection is LBZ.

They switched over here about a week ago. I have burned 3 tanks of it and it doesn't seem to burn hotter. But it smells like a$$ when it come out the tail pipe!!!!

I just double checked, and yes the 07 Classic (early 07's) are LBZ still.

There is no way to check on the GMT-900 (07 1/2 MY), info not available on GM system yet. No mention of LMM anywhere, but I'm sure its coming.

Does anyone know how the new emissions stuff will respond to user changes in both hardware (blocker plates, CAT removal, etc) and software changes?

Hey,

Removing the CAT will spell bad news. Engine codes galore I would assume. You are better off leaving it alone and live with it!! There isnt much benefit from removing it, so why bother? And the particulate trap is another story.

Just my 2 cents.

Hot rodders will always find a way to circumvent things that hinder performance. It's our heritage... ;)

I was referring to the sales side, we have nothing on GM Autobook on LMM...

The 07's will be an emmisions nightmare. If you think getting rid of a CAT is bad wait until you are dealing with particulate traps. And ULSD has less BTU/gal than the old stuff so watch your mileage drop again.

It is my understanding that any vehicle built on or after Jan 1, 2007 must have the new motor with all the emissions stuff. Ford is going to call theirs a 2008; GM may call theirs a 2007 or 08 but emissions stuff requiring ultra low sulfur is a requirement on the vehicles built on Jan 1 +

:help: for all of us paying for emission controls--hopefully it is worth it..
