I went to pass a car out yesterday doing about 60mph so I pushed it about half flat and it stayed in 5th gear and once boost built up I seen the Attitude showing 8% slip for a second.
I was wondering if that was more likely the converter or the 5th gear clutches slipping? In other words, which one will slip 1st?

Converter. Attitude cannot read clutch slip.

I thought the Attitude read input shaft speed vs output shaft speed and if they didn't compare correctly then anything in between could be slipping?

Attitude reads crankshaft speed vs input shaft speed. This only gives converter efficiency (or lack of) in fluid coupling or slip in lock-up.

Converter
Verified on Dmaxallitech's truck with stock converter and Transgo kit. Verified on dyno charts, AND with Tech 2 snapshot. Additionally, same slip was detected at same range by myself on another 2004 LB7 truck.
Anything much over 700 lb/ft can be stretching things. Limiting to 650 would be safer...

Not trying to argue one bit! Just curious. Edge claims to pick up on the input speed sensor and output speed sensor. I have never really looked into the schematics to verify the actual location of these two sensors. Are you telling me that the output speed sensor is not located at the tail of the Allison past all of the clucthes?

Your talking about two different slip potentials .... The Attitude monitors TC hence crank sensor and input sensor ...
The input output sensors are measured for defuel purposes ...
