I have found several engins for my engine upgrade to diesel in my truck. Any cartain years ot model of 6.2 I should avoid? Thanks for all the help so far. I am gettin gcloser to starting into this so I will be here alot.

Not really. They were pretty much all the same. Some of the early ('82-'83?) models (with the "red" block) were supposed to have stronger blocks, but it doesn't make much difference.

Do get a J-code (no EGR) engine if you can find one (unless your truck is going to have to pass emissions tests - then you might want the C-code).

No emmissions. I am militery and move around alot. If i move to a state with emmissions, I will register it in my home state of Oklahoma. Not an issue. Thanks, anything else I should look for.

I've heard that the later years that used the serpentine belt for the accessories (as opposed the multiple V-belts) had slightly more power, but in one of those years they started putting plastic keepers in the rocker arms, which I thought I heard had a tendency to back out?

There was an article linked in here from Diesel Power(?) that detailed a Banks turbo conversion of a 6.2L engine--it had some wisdom on the topic.
