Well, just got out of the shower after a 4 hour Mega Filter change from Hell. I've put off changing the filter for waaaaay too long. I had several of my riv-nuts on the fender liner freeze and spin and with shoulder troubles and surgery I let it ride.:( Finally got out there and dug out the three bad riv-nuts this afternoon.:) Drained the OEM and Mega cartridges, swapped out the OEM and then things went South. The Mega cartridge is stuck tight to the filter head. -:t I destroyed my nylon strap filter tool, pulled the airbox, lights and grille and still couldn't get it loose! I beat the crap out of it with a punch and 3 lb sledge - no go. Finally had to pull the filter head and cartridge as I was running out of daylight and weather (thunder storm front moved in). I've got the head and frozen filter removed. Had to "jumper" the hoses with a 3/8" elbow to get the truck buttoned up and roadworthy. I don't have a real shop and nothing big enough to clamp the filter head, so I'll have to dremel off the filter can and then see about bending up and trying to twist off the cartridge plate. If I can get the dang thing off without damaging the head, I'll reinstall the Mega next weekend - I'm still in rehab and physical therapy for my shoulder reconstruction and I'm DONE for tonight!

Nicks filter setup takes about 5 minutes including pumping.

Thanks for that, Mike.;) However, it's a lot of hose to mount Nick's as a post-oem!):h I've got three fresh Kennedy cartridges - just need a clear head (filter AND mine) to mount one! I sure got a nice bath in #2 this afternoon - even after showering I can smell "Eau De Diesel":p:

Oh, during all the cursing and pounding, I did find a bad passenger side sidemarker bulb and got to shop vacuum all the dead bugs out of my stack while the grille was off.

Nicks filter or Mega filter or any filter if a filter decides to stick it sticks. My post is stainless so I'd not worry about that. I've been using dielectrc grease on my filter seals and have no problem removing them. Heat with a heat gun may help with the seal release.

Silicone grease or similar product is essential on all filter o-rings. Never put a filter on without it.
Good Luck! I'm sure you'll get it.
