: 06 manuals?
duramaxphil 05-29-2006, 02:23 PM Ive looked in the programmer section, but can't really get an answer. Will anyone make programmers for the 06 manual? Seems some people have tried the bullydog and I think a few others, but they dont work on the zf. Anyone know of anything?
duramaxphil 05-31-2006, 12:24 PM anyone?
dls64chev 05-31-2006, 01:10 PM PPE Claims theirs works on both transmissions. Dont know it that is true or not.
BigOL3 06-01-2006, 12:16 AM What is different about the 06 vs 01-05?
matt01 06-15-2006, 03:47 AM Dont the 06 zfs have different motors than the allison?
Deadeye 06-15-2006, 11:10 AM The 06 manual (ZF6) is an LLY. The LBZ which came out this year does not come with a manual tranny. The programers are designed for the engine not the tranny. The Edge, Quadzilla, and many other will work on both manual and auto but you need one programmed for LB7 or LLY if you have a manual transmission.
Progably should call the manufacturer to determine if they have tested their programmer on a ZF6. Especially if it is a custom programer (i.e. TTS)
If you are a software or computer guru the EFI Live would be a great programer for a manual but I don't if they make it for LLY or LBZ yet.
duramaxphil 06-17-2006, 04:01 PM Well I have found a new 06 6 speed, but if they dont make a programmer for an 06 manual I wouldnt buy it, so I guess might be leaning towards a used one. Unless someone can tell me otherwise that has an 06 manual.
t_dub1571 06-18-2006, 11:50 PM My brother-in-law has an 06 with a ZF..... he's running Bullydog's Power Pup on it. It didn't work right away, and had to download an upgrade from Bullydog (via internet IIRC). Not too sure of all the details, but I know for a fact that it is an 06, it is a ZF truck, and he is runnin the Power Pup.

GMCfourX4 06-23-2006, 10:37 AM Deadeye;
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the '06 LLY motor IS the LBZ motor and computer, just de-tuned. I believe that GM just re-used the option code, not that they're putting the older engine technology in the new stick-shift trucks... Can anyone confirm/deny this? Anything I can check on my truck to verify?

That is correct. Everything is the same except the programming. It has upgraded internals just like the LBZ.
dls64chev 06-23-2006, 10:55 AM I just called PPE the other day and they assured me the 2006 lly Xcellerator will work with my ZF6 truck. She's on order, be blowin smoke in no time. Just gotta start saving for the new clutch now.
Deadeye 06-23-2006, 02:39 PM Actually, the LLY and LBZ are not identical. The block and some of the components are the same but fuel system and some other components are different.
MartyK 06-24-2006, 09:10 AM I spoke to banks power (800-816-3405) and their Six pack tunner does work with a 6 speed.. Jeff the guy I spoke to says it even works better because you choose the shift point, instead of the tunner fighting with the automatic. I dont know up to what year truck it will work with. It would work with my 03 though
Dogface1SG 06-29-2006, 01:52 AM killed mine just like the bullydog. Yes, they assured me it would work as well
Right now, Bullydog had me update to version 1.1.1 and they said it will most likely kill it again. If it does, they emailed me a program that will download the stock tune then they are going to do a custom tune for me.
Bad thing is everytime I have tried a programmer, I have had to have the truck reprogrammed with a TECH II.

duramaxphil 07-01-2006, 12:01 AM Well I got my new 06 zf. So I will let you guys tell me how the programs work for these 06 manuals.
thanks,
Phil
Dogface1SG 07-01-2006, 01:00 AM PPE swears to my local guy they have six of them set up with it by them.
Heck, I would like to see six ZF's in one state):h

congrats!! know you been working on geting one for quite a while.
If you are a 'puter guy you might consider an EFI live also. Super Diesel (lives nearby) got one and I saw one at a dyno day. If you got the time this may turn out to be one of the best tuners for a zf6 . . . but you gotta have a laptop and time . . . .
05_LLY 07-02-2006, 01:55 PM Congrats on the new ride!!!!
I agree Efi Live is Probally the best thing out there for us handshakers but Someone correct me if i'm wrong in saying that efi live dose not work on the 06 trucks:( !

robertleeii 07-02-2006, 02:14 PM actually from what i understand efilive is now in the works for the lbz(i guess that would include the 06 lly) due to the demand. but it might be a while acording to the post i read.
duramaxphil 07-02-2006, 03:27 PM Thanks guys, I would have no idea how to make a program for efi live. I would be way to scared to try. But what makes efi live so good for a handshaker???
Dogface1SG 07-02-2006, 06:24 PM you can change just about anything. CUSTOM TUNING:cool2:
If they do get it working with ours, I will own it in a bat of an eye.
I still have not heard of anyone on here with a 2006 that has a programmer that works with our trucks. I have posted several times.
05_LLY 07-02-2006, 10:23 PM none of the programers add back the hp difference that the zf trucks lack off the lot i just learned this looking at smoe different files with efi and with some help from Fingers!!!! Harness boxes add what they add and thats it!!!

GMCfourX4 07-03-2006, 09:46 AM That's a question I'd been meaning to ask... If the '06 LLY is just a de-tuned LBZ, why don't the programmers START with the LBZ tuning, and go up from there? It's kinda annoying that we start with so much less power to begin with...

the only thing i see thats different is the throtle base injection which in short is how much fuel is asked for when the tps and rpm are at a given point in the scale!!! the 05 zf tune never ask for more than like 90 mm3 fueling rate while the auto goes as high as 160 mm3 but if you copy the auto tune and load it into a zf truck it is almost undriveable because of the severe throtle response!!!!!!
Hope this makes sense

GMCfourX4 07-03-2006, 09:52 PM Hmmm... Sounds like fun :D
