Just wanted to know if puting 4'' straight pipes, no muffler, no catalytic converter, just 4'' straight pipe will sound loud on my 95 chevy 6.5 turbo diesel. Will it sound as loud as a cummins with a 4'' straight pipe. I'd appreciate the help. Thanks

read the my sig. at idle not tell much but step on it and wake the dead as long as they are where they should be ( behind you ) I have had many folks say they like it reminds them of days gone by:ro)

If you are not running a manual boost control, it will be as loud as hell until the waste gate closes and you start generating some boost. I switched mine back to the factory vac operated setup just to check it out. It depends on how much noise you like. Mine is 4" from the drop pipe back into a BD muffler(more resonator than muffler)then a 5" tip. It sounds like no other vehicle on the road. Powerstrokes, Cummins, or Dmax don't sound even close the the 6.5 opened up. I wouldn't trade mine for the world. Have fun with it. You'll get A LOT of looks as you blow by.

I want to run a 4" straight pipe all the way to the axle, then split it into dual 5" tail pipes. One on each side of my Reese Hitch.

i have a 4inch with muffler and it is not loud at idle, step on it and people hear it. put the camper on and hitch the boat, it'll take that much more fuel to get up to speed and i can scare the bujeezes out of pedestrians when i start out from a stop. best to give it a wee bit of fuel to get moving then when right next to the pedestrian hit it. my wife luvs it so much i swear she takes photos of people grabbing their chest. unloaded the truck is not too loud. my muffler as stated above in a post is also more of a resonator, with a 6 inch tip

Exhaust cutout at down pipe has the BEST sound.

GO FOR IT. I have yet to hear anything that sounds better, and even the ford and dodge guys agreed too :D As stated above, its not bad at all in the cab (unless you do alot of highway driving). Match it with an intake and it sounds like the turbo is in the glovebox ):h

I know someone who has a 4" straight th pipe and it's not that loud. Don't get me wrong it has it's own roar but it's not overly loud

Just to let you know. It may very well be as loud as a dodge, but it wont sound like a dodge.

Dodges are inline 6's and the sound is WAY different than a v-8. I-6's always had a flat sound that reminded me of a tractor. V-8's have a bit more 'basso profundo' in them, and that great hammering (for lack of a better term) sound when whupped hard. I-6's just drone.

And any 6.5 that clatters like a cummins will not be doing it for long.
