Anyone have screaming brakes? Half the time they are quiet the other time they squeal like a pig. The gm teck checked them out at the last tire rotation did see anything wrong with the pads or rotors. I have 38000 mile on the truck with 20000 pulling RV’s out of IND.
This it the only problem I have had with the truck besides the 1 lug snapping off during tire rotating. And a broking lug in the rear from the factory. They wrapped masking tape around the lug and jammed it back in the hole. I could see it flying out at 75 mph and going through someone’s windshield.

Had the same problem, stayed with the service manager until they did something to fix it. Ended up replacing the pads with ceramics from NAPA. Hang in there they know that there is a problem and they will fix it if you insist long enough.

Mine has done it since day one. Never worried about it too much as all of my offroad trucks squeal also. Lets me know they're working.....HAHA!

My drivers side front squeals when hauling. It only does it when I am light on the brakes. I set my trailer brakes heavy, why wear mine to tow theirs. When applying brakes under normal conditions no noise.

My rear driver side also squeals but it stops after they warm-up.

Mine does it also. No big deal as long as they are working, doesn't bother me much. It's been like that since the start, some days it does and some days it doesn't. I've got 14000 on the truck.

Pads could have a bit of shine on them causing this.

Mine did it worse when it was newer. Either it has gotten better or I am better at ignoring it.

I had the same problem from 300 miles and now at 33450 the same condition is there I had the dealer look twice and they said there was a hard spot on the rear pad drivers side. They said it was replaced but a few hundred miles later it started again. I do have a ridge developing in that rotor and at 35000 I will have them replace both rears. They owe me from the wireing harnes problem that has pagued me for 2 months and finally resolved last week. Wire rubing on a bracket.

Thinking about brakes. Squealing brakes are caused by something vibrating. If you can get rotor tuned to a different frequency, it will not squeal. In olden times I understand a spring was put around brake drums to change the frequency of vibration. I do not know how you can do this on disc brakes. I think the factory should know how to detune rotors. It may be something to do with the suspension system tuned to special frequency. Just an idea from the back of my memory. I hope my '90 GMC 6.2 Diesel does not start squealing when it turns 100k and thinks it is new.

Mine has done it since new. Got 117,000 . Dealer checked ,them 3 times and said couldn't find anything wrong. Still have over half the pads left. Most of the miles are pulling a 13,000# fifth wheel trailer.

It's quite embarrassing that our $50,000 trucks sound like this.....

My 05 has been doing also since day 1. It seems to be worse after a rain or had been wet. but again it comes and goes. Brakes seem to work well. just a slight squeel every now and then. now i did get a rock hung in the inside dual for a bit and that was just plain horrible -:t not to mention it really scrapped up that pretty grey paint on those fancy stock wheels:ro)

I have an 02 with 70K on it and it just started making noise in the right rear. I recently removed the 19.5 Alcoa's and check breaks all around while I had it apart and there is over 1/2 pad left and the rotors look great. I think Chevy/GMC engineers them to squeek! Kinda like a trademark Harley rumble......
