I have 2200 miles on my new truck now and anytime I get up to about 2800 RPM's it sounds like the valves are real noisy . The dealer said that was caused by the EGR valve on this new engine and that was normal . My other truck did not sound like that ,it was quite and had more speed than this one does.I drove my other truck-2001 GMC 112,000 miles and it was great , my millege was around 20 to 21 MPG and this new truck 3500SRW is getting about 14.5 combined city and hwy. Does anyone have any idea about this noise? Is the LLY going to be noisy all the time? Thanks

It just the pilot injection shutting off at the higher rpm's. Nothing to worry about.

Jerry,

Mine does this too, it's normal. I only have 1550 on mine and it sounds like the valve train is gonna escape from the cover when it gets that high.

My mileage on the other hand is quite a bit better than that though. I'm getting 17.5 consistently with a mix of city and highway.
