My CEL (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/autolink.php?id=30&script=showthread&forumid=140) came on today. I was showing the wife the cool way that when you have cruise on and in tow haul, it will keep a constant speed going down hill. I was towing a 16 ft car trailer with 2 ATVs. I was going down a slight grade. I was coming to a curve, so I stepped on the brake. Cruise kicked off, enging reved (not much but noticable). Light came on. Do you think it will clear after a few cycles or do I need to take it in? Also I have heard about a tool to read and clear codes. Any input about that?

We would need the code to make any 'guesses' of what is going on.

You can either go to Autozone and they will read the code for free or go to Walmart and get a code reader for $69. I bought the reader, never hurts to have more tools:ro) :grd: :muahaha:  .

make sure you get a code reader thats CAN/J1939 compatible. Not all of them are...

Firtst the good news. My wife was driving the truck today and the light went out. Bad news is I had bought a code reader about 10m min before that (like said above, not realy bad news cause now I have another tool :) ). Code was P0606. Book says "PCM Processor Fault", whatever that is. I erased the code and will go from here.

BTW, I love this truck!!!!

The CEL will come one, then go off, for one cycle. If the fault returns, the light will stay on. Even with one cycle, you can still get the code.

"PCM Processor Fault" may have been a one time glitch or it may be an indicator that the PCM may not be getting all sensor signals. Check your PCM main cable connection to make sure it's connected and snug.

Is this what you are talking about?
