What % are the rear and back windows on our trucks? What is the best way to get same % and be darker then then the back and rear windows are from the factory.

Thanks!

Find someone who does a good job of tint and tell them you want the fronts matched to the back. There are different colors and stuff that they can use to get it close. I did exactly that and my front windows are almost identical to the rears. I don't know the color or tint percentage though sorry.

Of course it depends on the brand of film but the guy that did mine said that the rears doors and back glass are about 16% from the factory, at least that is what my guy uses in his brand, 16% on the fronts to get the front and back to match. To go darker on the back he went 16% on the back and 5% on the front. Matches perfect.

FWIW, I had 20% put on the front doors of both my duallys , but would not do my plow truck as at night it "sucks" to see out of when backing up for snow plowing. Thats why most states have "issues" with tinting the front doors. If you tow and cross a dot scale there might be some issues with that also, never know how big of a PIA the state patrol is going to be.

Is charcoal the same tint? And then just match the percentage?

i'm considering the same thing. but does this make it a problem to see at night really? especially living in a semi-rural area

I have my fronts tinted to match the back also. It does make a huge difference if you ask me. They really do make it hard to see, I try to drive as little as possible at night now. The more tired I am, the worse it seems. But I say go for it, I still love mine, just know it is a big difference.

I put 5% on my front two and also over the factory 15/16% on the back which with a meter made it 0%. Looks really good but has its visibility issues even in the day. Yes, charcoal is the color tint you want.

Some state & municipal police like to check tint w/ a meter to help the donut fund! Best check before going too dark with the tint.

Texas has specific regulations on window tint. The state troopers will pull you over and check if your front windows look too dark.

Here's the regs in Texas:

View the reference in the Transportation code :
§ 547.613. Restrictions on Windows
Windshield
Glass coating or sunscreening devices

Cannot extend downward beyond the AS-1 line; or
Cannot extend more than 5 inches from the top of the windshield without an AS-1 line.
If sunscreening devices are used above the AS-1 area of the windshield, the light transmittance value must be 25% or more;
The luminous reflectance of any additional sunscreening devices used must be 25% or less;
Sunscreening device cannot be red, blue or amber in color.

Side Windows
All side windows must have at least 25% light transmittance and luminous reflectance of 25% or less, over the entire surface area of the window.

*Rear (back) Window

If vehicle has left and right outside mirrors, there is no minimum light transmission requirement.
If not equipped with both outside mirrors, the rear window must have no less than 25% light transmittance and a luminous reflectance of 25% or less.
The manufacturers installed glazing shade band is excluded.

First of all I take offense to the DONUT S**T, I am a Deputy and the reason we dont like the dark tint is because of the safety factor, Walk up to a car after dark with black windows and we cant see inside....A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
