I was wondering if anyone has an extra gms number they can spare. I signed all the paper work last night, but the dealer wants the gms number before they let the truck leave.

Thanks, PAul

You might want to PM some of the guys that have them under the "GM in the driveway" sticky up on the top of this page.

GMS is for GM retirees, employee or family members. GID is if you know someone who can get you a GM in the driveway #. It's about 5% above GMS price

yeh i am gms i can't belive your trying to get gms before trying to have the # prior your only option is gmsd because with gms you have to have the retirree to call the 800# and tell your relation and your full name and ss # and then you will get your # a lot of red tape

SKUNKWHAT, I will now either straighten you out OR CONFUSE you BIG TIME. G.M.S.(General Motors out of stock) is what a GM employee will pay for a vehicle. It now is used weither you order a vehicle or take 1 off the lot! They used to have G.M.O. (General Motors Ordered) This was used for a vehicle that you as a G.M. employee ordered throught the dealership. G.M.S. or G.M.O. was = 15% off of MSRP. Then, there is G.M.S.D. (General Motors Supplier Discount Authorization Code Number) It has been shorten to G.M.S.D. #. This is what we as G.M. Employees get for you guys so that you can buy your truck at a Good Discount WITHOUT HAGGLING!! It's = 11.57% off of M.S.R.P. We get these G.M.S.D.#'S at a rate of 2 per employee per month. That is why sometimes it is hard to get a # from 1 of us. The Number is given to us by phone & is given as a G.M.I.D.(General Motors In the Driveway. This is a program that was set up & the idea was that G.M. wanted to see that you had a non-G.M. vehicle & was going to replace it with a G.M. Thus the name G.M.in the Driveway. G.M.I.D. & G.M.S.D. are equal to the same discount= roughly 12%. G.M.S.D. is also available to some companies that are Suppliers to G.M. Thus the name= G.M.S.D. F.Y.I. On a vehicle invoice you will see the G.M.S. Price. Under that price you will see listed:G.M.S.D. The great part of either Price is that these are listed on the invoice THUS NO HAGGLING NEEDED!!!! You go in to the dealership,MAKE SURE that they will accept the G.M.S.D.# & then ask to see the invoice. It is listed in Black & White. You are entitled to any rebates that are going on at the time. These are SUBTRACTED from the G.M.S.D. Price. You aren't allowed to use your G.M. Card with the G.M.S.D. If you can get them to do this, GOOD LUCK. That is your lesson on G.M.S.D. for today & yes I will get you 1 after 6/1!! Howard

Howard,

I have a couple of questions for you. If someone uses the GMSD thing, does that mean there can be no haggling?

The reason I'm asking is that the bank I use has a "vehicle pricing service". I give them a VIN and the name of the lot that it's in, and they get the best price they can out of it. They said they can usually take a price down to about (invoice + $2,000).

Would I be able to use the GMSD and this service? I guess the dealer has a choice on whether or not to honour the GMSD. But, suppose he does. Would I be able to take advantage of both programs - along with the rebates and trade-ins?

Thanks,

J

GMS is GMS.. No haggling etc.. You get employee price.

Then you can stack whatever factory rebates that are offered on top.

GRUFFID, is a price that is on the invoice of a vehicle. It is under the G.M.S. price on a invoice. I really don't think you can haggle that price down. It is normally invoice +$200. All rebates are subtracted from that price. G.M.A.C. - the finanical end of G.M. many times has a program going that includes another rebate? Be sure to check that out also! F.Y.I. A dealer doesn't have to honor the G.M.S.D.Pricing Authorization #. If you need a # send me a e-mail so that I can get you the rest of the info. that we need to get you a #. Send me a e-mail to = howard_m18 at yahoo.com Howard

Howard,

Thanks for the info and the offer. I may have to take you up on it later in the year or next year. I'm just doing my homework right now. But for meantime, I'm going to have to eat my '04 LLY. I need to get a little more equity in her before I can get serious about a new truck.

She's not a bad truck -- if you don't tow much. Now that I have a 14k lb fiver, she doesn't do so well. lots of fan noise and thermostat gauge movement.

This is true so long as there is no trade involved:eek:. If there is a trade involved, HANG ON!!!!!!!
