I changed my external filter around 3500 miles, and after that I noticed the tranny temp. was higher than it was before I changed it during normal driving. No towing. Changed the filter again, 1000 miles or so, thinking maybe a bad filter, but with same temps. To this day, tranny has not ran as cool as the original filter. Any ideas. Thanks.

Allison filter?

Your temp will vary greatly by load and ambient temp. You sure its not a coincidence that you changed it and something else happened?

Check your fluid level?

What kind of filter did you use? There was some talk awhile back that on some brand filters the filter magnet blocked the holes more than on the OEM filters. Don't know what ever came of it though.

Tranny low on fluid??
Tranny cooler airflow blocked??

On edit: The rat beat me to it!

Used a Ally. filter with same magnet, just cleaned it. Weather conditions did not change, did not tow.

What temps are you running? I seem to run 160 to 190 normal driving, not towing. Hopefully you didn't have something in the first filter that is now causing a restriction from the filter back to the trany. If it is something other than a coincidence that is all I can think of.

Normal driving 170 to 190, seems that it would not get above 160 when new. That was then, this is now. Maybe too paranoid.

Your not the only one paranoid my temps have been steadily rising too. Today notice little over 190* making me a little nurvous also.

I noticed the same thing on my truck. 16K miles so far. I noticed while city driving yesterday (empty not towing) and 85 degrees my trans temp nudged over 200. Before changing the filter I'd be lucky to push 150-160. I've changed it twice with a Wix filter. I'd like to find an answer for this also.

mine's doing the same thing. Used to run much cooler than it does now at 36K. Still runs cool enough not to give it a worry though.

Stop and go traffic will yield the highest transmission temps specially in non tow haul.

I think it's mere coincidence that the filter change was done and now you have seen higher temps. I believe that as the earth is farther from the sun that you are seeing higher temps along with a heavier foot on the right side of your torso. :D

If it bothers you run synthetic as it will take the heat with less additive breakdown at them temps compared to conventional fluid or step up to a bigger cooler to drop 20 degrees or so.

Ingelwood transmissions (MikeL) or Suncoast sells them.

Mine runs btwn 160-190 normal driving in the south TX heat. When I was pulling my TT back from Galveston last week it was up around 200-205. Not too worried since I put in Mobil 1 ATF last filter/fluid swap.

Same thing here, after filter change its running hotter, wonder if its because of the new filters they are using.
