Who makes the factory turbocharger? What's the model?

Thanks

IHI-borgwarner GM-4 on a 1994 6.5L

I saw this and was wondering if it would fit:

This acutator is brand new from Turbonetics.
Wastegate is fully adjustable from approx. 5psi to your turbos max, by tightening the tension on the threaded wastegate arm.
Comes with stainless steel mounting bracket, for any garret T3 series turbocharger.

Looks like it should. The whole turbo will fit if you modify the exhaust manifold to hold a T3 flanged turbo.

Mostly what I'm curious about is the bracket. I don't have the slightest idea of the diameter of the two turbos and wouldn't want to purchase it and have the curve of the bracket not match my turbo.

The way they slotted that bracket should make it easier.

What about the trim being correct?

Is there any trim difference between the GM 1 through 8 series?

Sorry, I don't mean to jack the thread, -I'm just curious.

Texas diesel guy made one to fit and somewhere on here is a pic.

A Dodge wastegate control looks about the same and it's adjustable. Just need to fab up a bracket. That's what I would do. Look at my garage and you'll see one on my SED (Smoke Extruder Device)

Are all the trims on the compressor wheels the same on GM 1 through 8?

TIA

Thanks QM. The reason I was curious is that some guys have been eager to swap out their GM4's for the 8, and I was wondering why.

Now I'm even more confused.

The GM-4 has the waste gate side by side with the exhaust turbine, the 5-8 has the waste gate in the rear of the turbine, and is said to be an improvement in exhaust housing design, and the parts are not interchangeable, so upgrade is the only option although it is of limited value.

Grape suggested putting a T-60 wheel on the intake instead of the T-55 but that requires some work to fit it.

you would have some serious turbo lag with that. the exducer on any of the IHI turbos is pretty small, VERY small in comparrison.

Yeah, but you could weld the waste gate shut at that point and at 15 PSI the intake volume would increase.
