: I keep hitting the Heated Seat
NoWake200 04-28-2004, 11:21 AM Is it just me or are others having this problem?
It seems that everytime I put the window down my hand hits the seat the heater! And now that it is warm it talks a long time to cool off!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
I have not looked yet but is there a fuse just for the seats that I can pull or with my luck is the heated seats using the same fuse as the radio.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
Thanks!!

I had this same problem so I took it to the dealer yesterday.
The dealer says that GM is making a new switch to avoid this problem, so they ordered 2 and they should be in by the end of the week.
I'll see if there is any difference or if the dealer is bs me
CStone 04-28-2004, 03:26 PM My dad got in mine the other day and nonchalantly said "Boy this seat gets warm...". I glanced over and his seat was on full blast on a 75 degree day. hahaha NoWake200, you're not alone.
NoWake200 04-29-2004, 09:50 AM I am glad there are other owners that have the same problem.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif.
HDfatboy, is this new switch covered by GM or is this coming out of your own pocket? If not how much are they telling this fix will cost?
Thanks......just call me 'HotSeat'http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
Mike L. 04-29-2004, 10:51 AM Add me to the list. I hit the button at least once a week.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

dmaxalliTech 04-29-2004, 10:58 AM Yeah, the new stuff coming through I have noticed use a new switch. The buttons are recessed almost instead of raised. Should work better. I am not sure if its a warranty repair or not, but I will dig into it and check on pricing/avail of them regardless
NoWake200 04-29-2004, 07:32 PM Thank you for checking into it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
dirty old man 04-30-2004, 10:33 AM I have had the same problem many times. I'll be watching this thread to get more info.
I also have a problem with setting off the alarm accidentally by the panic buttom getting punched while the keys are in my jeans pocket, someimes from reaching in pocket to get out keys or other items, sometimes just because I sit down or otherwise change position.
Anybody else have this problem?

Yep, same here for the heat switch AND the panic button!!
turbospl311 04-30-2004, 12:24 PM I superglued the panic button to keep it from going off on my fob. My wife's still has hers working. Got tired of bending over to load something, have your hands full and have the damn thing go off.
On the heated seats thing, no heated seats here, this ain't no luxury car, it's a truck :)

The dealer hasnt called back yet, I'm hoping to hear something Monday.
The dealer said it was covered under warranty, will not cost anything to me. He said it had been a problem with other people so when they come in to complain about it they are just replacing the switches. I'll keep you informed, "hotseat"

hdfatboy,
I'm also interested in this very much. Don't forget to ask if there is a TSB for this so we can confront our stealers with it. Thanks!

biggar 05-01-2004, 06:19 PM My switches on my new '04 LLY seem a bit recessed and I have yet to accidentally turn my seat on. I wonder if my truck already has the new switches?
Gar
Ditto here.
I try to be a bit more careful now and it has been a while since my rump was accidentally roasted.
hdfatboy 05-01-2004, 08:54 PM I'll make sure to ask about the TSB on the switch or what the story is. Just for info mine is an '04 LB7 which the switches are not recessed so maybe the LLY has the new ones.
SteveNorCal 05-02-2004, 12:57 AM They are not on my 04' LLY......
2fast2 05-02-2004, 09:40 AM I. too. regularly cook my butt with the seat heater. The ergonomic design of that area is certainly "defective" but I would be SHOCKED if Gm would actually replace those switches under warranty.
Please post the TSB if there is such a beast. I"ll need all the help I can get to get this fixed.
Meanwhile, I would like to add a kill switch or disconnect to disable the whole seat heater circuit for the 9 months of the year that I can happily live without it. Best would be the new switch, since sometimes on a long summer drive the seat back heater feels pretty nice on a tired, sore back!
Thanks.
hdfatboy 05-05-2004, 11:30 AM Well its now Wed. and the switches are still not in. Dealer is hoping any day now. Sorry for the wait I was hoping to have an answer for you by now. I'll keep you posted

Thanks hdfatboy.....Will continue to wait for the outcome on this.
Dura_Mike 05-05-2004, 03:13 PM My '04 doesn't have the new style buttons either. I've fat-fingered the wrong buttons several times. I thought I had an A/C problem yesterday until I noticed that the leather wasn't cooling down http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif.
The new style recessed buttons are a good idea, but IMO the buttons should need to be pressed in for 3 seconds on longer to activate the heated seats.
2fast2 05-05-2004, 03:26 PM So, does anybody know how to disable them for the summer months?
cricket 05-05-2004, 08:25 PM Accidentally turned mine on last summer when I was coming home from a job. I strained my back and was in a little pain. The heat did wonders and by the time I was home it was a lot better.
EEEEZY 05-06-2004, 02:52 PM I accidentally turn my heated seats on every week or so and, although I have nothing to compare them to, the switches on my LLY don't seem to be recessed.
Haven't set the panic button off yet, but I do lock and unlock the doors by just reaching in my pocket.
hdfatboy 05-06-2004, 03:03 PM Just got a call and took the DMAX into dealer for the "new" switches. I havent got the truck back but I got the tsb.
The # is #Pi01850 and the new part# for the switches are as follows:
15116861 passenger
1516862 driver w/memory, heated and adjusted pedals
15116863 driver w/ memory and heated only
Hope this helps NoWake200 and I'll let you know what the switches look like when I get the truck back later today.
hdfatboy 05-06-2004, 03:08 PM Sorry I screwed up the second part # it should be as follows
15116862 driver w/ memory,heated and adjusted pedals

And they are doing this under warranty at no cost to you, right?
hdfatboy 05-06-2004, 04:46 PM Correct
hdfatboy 05-06-2004, 08:52 PM I just got back from the dealer and the difference between the switches is the "new" switches sit flush with the housing so even if you "accidentally" hit or brush up against them it probably wont be enough to turn them on. You need to push the botton to activate.
And no there was not any charge and yes it was covered under standard warr. Hope this helps all who have this problem so there are no more "hotseats".
SteveNorCal 05-06-2004, 09:09 PM Thanks hdfatboy!!!!!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
EEEEZY 05-08-2004, 10:59 AM I don't want to rain on anybody's parade here, but when I looked at mine again, they are flush (not recessed) when compared to my seat memory buttons. Unfortunately, I keep accidentally hitting them on a regular basis anyway. Maybe I'm just clumsy! http://a178.g.akamai.net/7/178/8932/92139b1746d813/www.rv.net/glb/cfb/images/smile.gif
