I want to swap my factory 02 radio for a new 05 factory radio, is this possible?

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but, I believe yours is a 1 1/2 din radio (hole in dash) and the '03 and up are a full double din design; therefore; if that's correct, it won't fit. I COULD BE WRONG...just going off memory. Good luck. :)

Right it won't physically fit without heavy modification of the dash. I'm also not so sure that the new radio will work with the 02's computer setup.

Won't fit and won't communicate with the bus either. 01/02 are completely different from the 03 and up.

Complete waste of time/money/effort, IMO. Just go aftermarket if you want something better. The stock unit on an 03- truck is nothing to write home about.

Appreciate all of the honesty. I will go for an aftermarket. Dug into stereo system and everything is all aftermarket. There used to be subs, so I'll buy some subs while I'm buying a new radio

2002 and earlier radios...cant do much with them...Id recccomend either leaving the whole stereo stock or going ALL aftermarket.

2003+ radios/entertainment systems are a different story IMO. You can integrate a very nice sounding aftermarket system all using the stock head unit.

Why?? I am running a stock HU with a alpine mono amp, 10" mtx sub, pioneer door speakers, and it sounds fine to me....

how do you have the subs and amps hooked up to it?

Well this is a first, no comment from the FNG...:D

Any suggestions for making it sound "better" since you don't think it sounds good now????

lol....rolloffhill nuttin wrong with what you are doing...I used to work in a stereo shop and there were all kinds of people that wanted to keep the stock look but not the stock sound...LOC's are def the way to go if thats what your after....

nothing wrong with LOC's....im just saying for people who are looking for "amazing intense" sound on 2003+ trucks and still want to keep the stock head unit, its better to do a direct PAC adapter versus an LOC.

I really dont hvae too much experience with either device tho...unlike most of my friends who are impressed by how high a car jumps when a bass note hits, id rather spend $$ on go-fast parts...OEM audio/Bose stuff Im alright around, but aftermarket stuff :confuzeld: :)
