Is it worth it to pay 60 bucks more for the fass pump or should I just get the super diesel pump for 320? Any advantages to going with the fass over the other? Thanks guys!

You get every thing included to hook up/mount the HPFP to your truck.

Lots of great options out there with our vendors. Me? Just bought dual TTS pumps at http://www.ttspowersystems.com/GM_fuel.htm

muscletruck03,

The FASS has been around and includes everything to do the job, plus you get the benefits of no air in the fuel vs just a pump. Call us if you want we stock them and will be glad to help.

Personally, I would not go FASS. I see they have yet another electric motor update out for them, plus the problems they have had in the past on a DMX running under 1/4 tank of fuel.

TTS duals, Kennedy Duals, and a Mega filter/Nicktane would get my vote.

Or the MITUSA pump and filter head.

Just a personal opinion, as I have repaired other FASS systems when they died on the CTD's (usually in the middle of the night under a maglight to work.)

Brushes are a weak point in them.

Again, JMHO

The Motor Campaign is to replace the motors you talk about.........these new motors (that we have been running since late last year) are doing VERY well......no brush failures to date. ALSO we have a suction tube kit to fix the 1/3 Tank issue.......

Or not?

We have been talking about a motor update program for the units that still have the serviceable brush motor. This program would allow....

FASS SN#: xxxx - 4930

HPFP (150 GPH) SN#: xxx - 912

HPFP (95 GPH) SN#: xxxx - 1017

.....and older (lower numerically) to be eligible for an update to the new EM-1001 motor (and updated T-block for the FASS) at a reduced price. We are going to offer this upgrade for (Contact Dealer) for the FASS and (Contact Dealer) for the HPFP (New/Better billet hanging bracket needed for HPFP install).

(I dont think i can post pricing for this...but i did e-mail our dealers with this letter...they will have the info....if they dont, have your dealer call me. Please do not call us with quesitons (We are very short handed on the phones due to staff changes)....you will be referred to a dealer in your area that can help you. PM me if needed.)

We will require a $175 Core for the FASS and $155.00 core for the HPFP. All cores will be refunded when the older motors, motor bases (and T-block for FASS) arrive at DPP for inspection. All cores are subject to verification. Only serviceable motors will be accepted in this campaign. DO NOT JUST SEND IN YOUR UNIT! IT WILL BE REFUSED IF IT DOES NOT HAVE A DEALER ISSUED RMA#. ALSO, a SN# will be needed.

We will also be offering a 4 year warranty covering these new motors. New warranty paperwork will be sent out with each motor replacement. The customer will need to fill this out and return it to us along with a purchase receipt. This new 4 year warranty will cover the motor ONLY. The customer will have 30 days from date of purchase to send in the registration card with a copy of the sales receipt.

This program will run from 5-23-06 until 12-1-06. After Dec. 1st, all prices will go back to the current pricing in our pricing catalog.

Part numbers to use when contacting your dealer:

RP-1001 (FASS 95 GPH) $175.00 Core

RP-1002 (FASS 150 GPH) $175.00 Core

RP-1001-HPFP (95 GPH HPFP) $155.00 Core (New SN# will be issued)

RP-1002-HPFP (150 GPH HPFP) $155.00 Core (New SN# will be issued)

This is our way of saying thank you for sticking with FASS through the years!

Might be picking nits, but original warranty not covering the motor update if you change it?

Unless it fails?

WTF :Over!?!?!

Dan, do you know how hard it was to service the brushes on gen1 and gen 2 FASS in the dark when the armature went out of line? Using a maglight and a Bastrd cut rasp file? One slip, and it would have been powder!

Is there nobody who can at least make a brushless motor for this application?
or even a magdrive? (Danner/Eheim?)

I'm glad to see the update to the motor system, but after 2 years.... it kinda sucks for some people who now have to shell out more money to fix what was your design issue in the first place.

IMHO

On Edit: I am only asking because half the guys i know are running a FASS in the CTD world and from one issue to the next. Now this. It is an AWESOME system, compact and with obvious benefits, but there is more than a little grumbling about this out there, that you may or may not be aware of.

So i suppose this is a little 'heads up' to you from me. Sorry if i am the bearer of bad news.

We are not saying that the older motors were bad at all! I had mine on my truck for 3 years with no issue. Some have even more time. BUT there were some issues with some motors that caused some problems. A lot of the older units only came with a 2 year wnty. ALSO some didnt take advantage of the 4 year wnty when they had a chance...so this is a second chance of sorts. The responce has been great to this....im sorry you have such an issue. We are only trying to say thanks to the many that have stuck with us through the years by offering a discounted price to get a new 4 year wnty and upgraded motor.

ALSO the older motors rarely completely failed. The brushes were really the only issue. If you replaced them, sealed the caps, and made sure you had good connections on the harness.....the motors would run just fine. SO no....wnty on thoes motors would cover repair unless it was not repairable.

EDIT: Oh we know.....we see what on the forums...and we see whats in real life. Hence the update campaing....but honestly....i think some of the issues on the forums painted a worse picture than what was really going on.

I dont doubt that the people that posted had issues. BUT you get a bunch that had a issue post on the same thread. SO what happends on the next thread that is started with an issue......eveyone posts again. Its a snow ball effect. SO it looks worse than what is was. Again...i dont doubt that people had issues with the older motor.....

10-4 Dan:)

Arc-over on brushes fed by 10AWG

Glad to see the issue has been addressed though!

And in fairness, some companies would do nothing at all, however it still makes me nervous (a little:o: )
