I've never raced before... but tonite I tried to race a buddy in a 06 Furd f150 gasser and got wiped off the line and took me QUITE a while to catch up too.... What might I have done wrong? All I did was floor it when the light turned green. Should I have done a "brake stand" first to get the turbo spooled or what? What should I do differently to KILL him next time? Start low and work up. If the nose comes up hard(not sits you back but if your hood rises way up), you break traction, or it feels funky in anyway dont go any higher. Also dont turn on pavement in 4x4. Get straitght were you are going to launch at, 4x4, roll forward a bit if your not rolling forward already, stop and bring it up to what ever RPM or boost you leave at. Let off break and mash throttle. :D Hang on.
