Hello All. I was just wondering what i should be expecting out of my truck. I have a 1988 Chev silverado, 6.2 diesel. brand new k&n air filter, and i run it with 15/40 oil, + duralube, 200,000 kilometers on the odo.
Does anyone know what the mpg should be? or what anyone else has had. (its a lond box, cab plus, with 31x10.5R15's) thanks for any info.

'84 silverado - 24 mpg everywhere, up hill down hill and around curves. Not much power however.

Would depend on engine - type C with EGR or type J without, transmision type, final drive ratio, tire size, loading and fuel quality.
Use all the posts for reference, but realistic comparison is to identical truck.

84 4x4 blazer. 32 inch tires, 3.42 gears. 700r4 tranny.
I get 24mpg everywhere, strange thing is when pulling my 4wd trail rig I run in D and not OD, and still get 22 to 24. I figure it has to do with the engine only turning around 2K at 83mph in OD. That is why i run in D when towing and normally around 70 or 75mph.
I have not checked accuracy of tach in over a year, but speeds are checked with GPS, and I never measured actual tire size, the manufacturers are sometime way off on size designation.
