OK, I see all of this horsepower flying around the forum and how great it is, I want it too. Now my only question is with all this power, how much added maintance are you guys doing on your trucks? If I plug in the juice with attitude am I going to be sitting in the service department alot more too?

That all depends on you .... Oil changes are about the worst of it ....Unless you really turn the power up ... But you'll be getting a tranny before then ....

If you run the low boost fueling on 5 with the power level in the higher levels, expect to do oil changes a lot more frequently. Mine turned black in no time.

Only if you have a crush on the service manager!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

There are a lot of if`s involved in that type of question. And some bad luck too.

I have 57,200+ miles on my truck, and other then a distroyed turbo. I have yet to visit the service department. And I have run some type of power/torque inhancement device for all but maybe 1200 or those miles. I never run with less then 70 extra horses in the stable. And most always 100+ I am not sure what that equates to in torque, as each type of addon has different power to torque.

I do however take very good care of my truck, as I always have regardless what I drive.

Hope that gives you an idea of how it should effect the truck.

I am not saying that you won`t rip the drive shaft off the truck, or twist an axle. But this could happen while stock, just less likely.

Black oil does not equate to being spent. I will agree that you should change the oil more often, but that should go with anything you run hard. Using an oil that can handle to heat and soot better will help, but not fix it completely. Such as Mobil Delvac1 Then again I run the better stuff in all my vehicles.

Has anyone running the top performance tunes had an oil analysis done to figure out the necessary change interval?

I wonder how long Delvac1 is good for when run hard w/ say a 50/50 split of city/highway -- 3,000 miles? 4,000? more?

I had an oil analysis done on last oil change. think it was penzoil put in at the dealer, had about 8600 miles on it. They said wear was normal after 6000 miles on oil. and try 10,000 on next oil change.

I went with Rotella this time and am going to change at about 5000 miles. Just fell it is better for the engine.

Did have high silicon level due to dirt getting past the K&N Airfilter, ordering an AFE Stage II soon to fix this.

All with juice & Attitude on level 4 low boost on 5

Well if your Juice/Attitude is hot and you dogged it a lot in level 5, the tranny might need attention, but I'm sure you know that already

DDelvac is one of the best oils out there for soot control. I run juice/attitude boost level 5 and I like to roll into it so she smokes good before downshifting. I probably do that everyday at least once. I do changes every 10K with an oil analysis and things have been fine.

During dragracing/truckpulling season I change the:

oil/filter every 2500-3000 miles

tranny spin-on and fluid in the pan gets changed every other oil change during racing season

t-case, front axle & rear axle fluid get changed at least once a yearEdited by: mtomac
