Hello,
I just pick up brand new 06 sierra 4x4 slt package with LBZ motor. SO far I have add Bully Dog Power Pup Downloader and 4" AFE exhaust and truck feels like monster!
Quick question I have around 1200 miles right now and i been getting 13mpg seems like everybody else getting around 16-19mpg. Will it get better after brake in period? I had 04 sierra 1500 4x4 and I notice that after around 3k truck was more responsive and better gas mileage, is the same for a diesel?
Thanks
Gene.

some are saying around 10k would be the begining on your better mileage. What size tires do you have on and are you hand calculating your mileage? My stock truck brand new was doing around 15-16. Now Im getting around 17-18.
stock 245/70/16.My computer shows me 13mpg.

Try hand calculating your mileage on the next couple of fill ups.
I hope it will change! But even 13 I love the truck. I drive aggressively so I really cannot expect a good mpg
I wonder what people paid for lbz’s 42k otd full loaded (except sunroof) including leer tunnel cover
here is my old 04 1500 4x4 that I trade in for lbz

I, too, was disappointed with my MPG at first. However, at 8K miles I am seeing improvement. I have heard there is a "sweet spot" in the RPM's that yield the best results. It difficult to drive that slow when there is so much power to spare!

I play around with mine at different speeds now and then to check fuel mileage.
I still get my best at 65 MPH

your best mileage they say will come at 1600 RPM which happens to be the peak torque RPM. Your mileage will start to drop like a rock at 2000 RPM, which for me is around 77-78 MPH. I drove like a bat out of hell on 1 tank and got my mileage to around 15, so try a tank on babying it and see what results you are getting. Dont let it hit 2k, no racing, and try not to tow anything. See if you can get higher than 17 MPG if not I think there could be something not right.
Thanks!
I'ts hard to be under 2k rpm :)

I know- it killed me until I went 3 days longer on a tank- driving the same distances.
