I'm going to change the belt on my 03 next week. This past winter it would squeak at start-up, but then go away. Well, the last month it's been getting worse, and now squeaks almost all the time. The truck has 92K and never changed it yet. Do I turn the bolt in the middle of the tensioner to relieve pressure on the belt, or do I use a breaker bar to just go in between and pry back? That's the way I have done it on other cars, but I just wanna make sure. And yes, I'm gonna order a Gatorback belt once I check witch alternator I have. Thanks!

The tensioner on the left side of the motor is spring loaded. Use a breaker bar to relieve the spring pressure and slide the belt off.

There is a sqaure hole in the tensioner arm. I used that, with a 1/2" breaker bar, to release the tension. It works well, and you don't have to worry about slipping off.

wiggle the tensioner pulley while you are there. make sure there is no excessive play in it as they are known for bearing failure.....

Check the Idler wheeles when you have the belt off as well. Mine was doing a similar thing. Used to squeel a bit on start up, then go quiet after a minute or two. progressivly got worse over time. turned out to be an idler berring.
