i have a 03 gmc that i bought used, is it sopost to have a .stock cat form the factory? will upgrading the front pipe back void warranty?

Depends where the truck was sold, I think? Mine does not have it, but I think CA trucks did. I'm sure someone can confirm.

If you haven't done so yet, find the forum to post your VIN number. I think it will tell you what was original on the truck, and I know it will tell you all dealer performed work on it. Good stuff to know either way.

In my opinion there is an easier way. Look up under the truck at the front pipe. I'm assuming that there is no cat there right now. Measure the pipe. If it's 3 1/2 inches across and NOT 4 inches or bigger then it's most likely a factory front pipe. That being said, also look at the muffler. If it is a stock, bigm hulking oval shaped muffler then it's factory too. Based on those observations I'd say it DID NOT come with a cat and is not from California because I don't think anyone replaces a factory exhaust with another factory exhaust. Only if there are aftermarket parts under there would I be suspicious/worry.
