Why are the Stock Shock on our new 2500HD so bad?:(

Because GM refuses to install Bilsteins from the factory.

Chances are they are aftermarket and they were the cheapest to supply these in large quanties to GM.

I agree JC! We shouldn't have to pay an extra $300 to replace the shocks on a $45,000 truck. My truck now has 13,000 miles and the rear end bounce is not tolerable. I'll be going with the Bilsteins soon.

My truck also has 13,000 and the Bilsteins are in the back seat waiting to be installed!!!!

I dumped the stock shocks at something like 5k miles; just by compressing them by hand and releasing them you could tell that 2 out of the 4 were already completely useless..........

Point well taken about stock shock. Now here I have a 40+ thousand dallor truck that is less than 3 months old and needs new shock.Next my wife is not happy about a new truck needing shock with only 5800 miles on it.:(

Hmm, shocks may fall in to a different category but let's define the work "need" on this site. I personally "need" a new tranny, lift pumps, traction bars....):h

Her, "why doesn't it come with a stronger tranny? why doesn't it come with a lift pump?".......;)
