maybe yall can help me. i have a light duty 94 w/ a 6 lug 14 bolt semi float rear. i have two options and many questions.
question, if i were to do an sas install w/ a ford dana 44 hp could i put the 69-79 chevy 6 lug hub and rotor assembly on the ford dana knuckles? if this is possible is there modification necessary and how much if any? or would it be cheaper and easier to find and swap in a 14 bolt ff in place of my sf?

Chevy had a 6 lug Dana 44 front axle. Had a Blazer once w/ a 44 in front and a 12 bolt rear....3.42 gears though. IIRC it was a '77 w/ a small block and th350 4x4.

If it were me I would go to junkyard and get knuckle and all from a 73-78ish six lug chevy and use that on the ford housing. Iirc the 10 bolt outers will work as well. Maybe someone else can verify.

The SF 14b should hold up fine for now. If you get to anything over 35's, I'd seriously consider switching to the FF 14b, and a D60 up front as the ball joints will thank you later. You need to decide right now though, as you will have to go to 8 lug wheels, and it'll be cheaper in the long run
For the front axle, yes, swap from the knuckles out with GM parts, whether it's D44 or 10b. You will have to run GM's stub shaft as it is longer than Ford's.
For the best steering, I'd select a D44 knuckle from a 73-79 axle. It has a flat portion on the passenger side that will allow you to run crossover steering. You'll have less bump-steer and the truck will handle beautifully.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
