Hauled a 10,000 lbs load with 350 miles on the truck and measured the rear end temps with a infrared gun, 154 degrees after 30 miles @70 mph. Truck can't wait for breakin, it has work to do.

Don't forget to change the fluid after 500 miles of towing. It will get pretty dern used up! And the magnet will be full of stuff.

Sideswiper- You must have a guage, have messed around with different lube and seen difference between them. I suspect most of the lube are very close. I guess I'll change my fluid at 500 mi.s since that's about all this truck does is tow.

Sounds like you guys need to invest in an aluminum extra capacity cover with cooling fins.

i changed mine@2500 miles per gm. I used 2 of the little anti stick tubes gm fluid for the clutches( i don't know what the stuff is called, and then use the synthetic 75/90 like mobil one etc. then your good for 50k. if you don't use that extra additive from gm the clutches will get grabby going around corners.

Most aftermarket diff covers have a port for a temp gauge sender.
