: What else?
Hired Gun 05-17-2006, 09:43 AM Ok I have the tranny, Suncoast V with brace. I have the PPE Hot ET +2 stacked with the edge and attitude, I have my tie rod sleeves (sd) and I need to crank the bars all the way down. What else will I need to hook at Diesel Mania in Stanford, KY? I am running the street class. First time to hook the chevy. Any advice. Wish I had my lift pumps but they have not arrived yet.
02 Durabeast 05-17-2006, 11:50 AM You might want to do some testing with your power levels. It will probably burst with the PPE by itself, it really likes the fuel. Make sure before, there is nothing more frustrating than hooking to a sled and your truck spittering and sputtering. You might want to check and make sure that there are no specific safety requirements such as drive shaft loops, etc. Other than that you should be good.
White Duramax 05-17-2006, 12:13 PM Hanging weights or a custom hitch?
Hired Gun 05-17-2006, 12:21 PM Well I know it will burst if I have it topped out on the PPE and run edge on level 4 or 5 so I run level 3 on the road? They recommend loops, but do not need them in the street class.
SmokeShow 05-17-2006, 03:02 PM Like was mentioned, you have a weight rack and/or pulling hitch?
Might wanna check on helmet requirements, I can't remember how they do it there.
Your favorite CD to pump you up while you are in line waiting to hook. :D
Let me know if I can help you with anything.

lawnboy01 05-17-2006, 07:04 PM Different hitch. Stock ones are junk and too far back. Might want to strap the front end also. Good Luck!
dpfcummins 05-17-2006, 07:56 PM Make sure you strap the front end!! You'll be fine without the lift pumps but make sure you have a good clean fuel filter on and you'll be good. Matt

He has a class V hitch, is this what you mean?
I think you mean he needs to scoot it back on the frame so the hooking point is further back - preferably even with the edge of the bumper. I doubt he'll modify the location of his hitch cause he does extensive hauling regularly with his truck and doesn't want to get that serious about it. At least not at this point.

Yep, Move it ahead. I made one with two hitches in it. One for pulling and one for towing.

Why would strapping not be allowed?:rules: It's not for performance it's so you don't break.
SmokeShow 05-17-2006, 10:33 PM Just cause.... The rules were voted on by the pullers in Sept 05 and I guess the GM representatives forgot about that. This is a Street class where the inducer limit is 2.4" (allows the Dodges to run a bigger turbo than factory) and front hanging weights, but won't allow the strapping of the centerlink. I have argued about rules with folks involved in the past BUT I am staying out of this one because it hasn't done any good for more seemingly rational thinking/input to be added because I am not a puller myself.
This is at Stanford in Ky this coming weekend. This pull is probably the biggest pull in KY and brings lots of big name trucks from all over this part of the country. It is one of the best facilities and overall the rules are pretty fair but I don't think that even and fair are the same thing in this case. It is pretty obvious they are making it a more even pack in this otherwise stock turbo class so that Dodges can run with the bigger factory turboed GM and Fords. These rules are even (for the most part) but not really fair. Like I already said though, I'm not going to argue with anyone over them cause I'm nota puller at this point and I don't think other pullers appreicate me arguing if I'm not pulling. I probably wouldn't like it if I were competing and a nonpuller was arguing.
Sorry for the book, just explaining the situation the way I understand it. If you'd like, RyanU is "arguing" his point with the folks over on KYDTR.com in the truck pulling section under thread labeled Diesel Mania 2006. His points are rational but the authorities aren't budging, thats just the way it is.

Here is a thread where Tomac explains it.
Hired Gun 05-18-2006, 09:19 AM Yes no strapping in this class, which makes me nervous. Still working on it. I have the hitch. No hanging weights yet. Working on that tonight if its too wet to plow.
02 Durabeast 05-18-2006, 09:26 AM I strapped last year but did not have sleeves. Is it still necessary to strap once sleeves are installed?
bogger 05-18-2006, 10:18 AM Is he even allowed weights on the front with it being a "stock" class? Also make sure before hand what the height of your hitch has to be. Our hook point can only be 24 inches. All I have ever had to do is crank the front end down. I personally have never had to strap the front end down, and we have to have all our weights in the bed of the truck. Trust me it sucks bad. Every now and again I'll sneak a few in the cab, but the teching is getting wise to guys doing this. Also I would loop your shafts for your personal good. Good luck with it.
Micheal Tomac 05-18-2006, 10:43 AM with th tbars down and weight up front you won't need to strap the centerlink
