: Wax or No Wax?

I was told by my dealer not to wax my truck for 2 months. I don't understand why. I thought these trucks had a new paint process and they could be waxed.

The paint is baked on at the factory............it is fully cured when it leaves.

Your dealer must still be spraying laquer paint http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif.

I stripped the dealer wax from mine when I bought it as soon as the weather warmed up in the spring and clayed it and then coated it with ZAINO...........

Zaino is hard to beat............

Go and WAX ON.........WAX OFF

Eric,

Zaino website says it's only available from their site. I've never seen it anyplace. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Do you really need to wax any more with clear coat. I never waxed my 93 pickup or 95 Mason dump. and when I wash them they are still shiny.

from what I was told by a friend of mine who is a painter. is that your vehicles clear coat lives off of wax. if you don't wax your vehicle it can cause the clear coat to dry up and flake off. I know my uncles 94 chevy "dooley" was never waxed and now it looks like it is shedding it skin. so a little wax every now and then wouldn't hurt.

My truck is not quit a month old yet and have waxed it twice. Haven't heard about the Zaino wax before. I have been useing Meguiar's #26 Hi-Tech Yellow wax. I do beleive that this truck has about the best paint job on any new vehicle I have ever owned. Like he said earlier "wax on wax off"http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Have used Zaino for two years now and 2 waxes per year is all it takes. The stuff is great. What a quality shine it produces.

I have been using it for a while now; makes that black truck really shine and seems easier to maintain between polishes; Zaino can be found at www.zainostore.com (http://www.zainostore.com) http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

The clear coat is shiny, alot of waxes will make it more so, and ZAINO..... this system will turn heads guaranteed! Depends on what you are after. Harley, hopefuly after a few miles you will still feel that way about the GM paint, as myself and many others have very thin paint that chips easily. I have used alot of touch up paint and Langka over the last two years to keep it looking good.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif Maybe GM has made some improvements lately.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

I too use Zaino--but I have found something just as good and does not need any curing time--important in the winter.

It is Menzerna--they have a pure polish I think it is called Final Polish II and followed by a sealant called FMJ. The key is--since they are not waxes--they last longer. The shine with FMJ is just as good as Zaino on my black truck. You just apply them and then buff them off. It is very quick.

Now that summer seems to be arriving early in Southern California--Zaino is the way to go--it is actually best in the direct sunlight--it cures fastest. The Menzerna is not suited for direct sunlight.

I'm another Zaino fan. Except for the window "cleaner", which I don't think is worth a whole lot, I like their stuff.

This stuff works www.langka.com (http://www.langka.com) . I have covered many chips and a couple scratches, and if used right looks as good as new.

They used to sell Zaino years ago at Autozone. Haven't looked for it in awhile.
