: SBC Single disk Pictures
IBDMAX'IN 05-16-2006, 06:13 PM Here is the picture of the new SBC single disk clutch, the picture shows both the disks that are offered for the kit. This kit should eliminate the noise that most are hearing with the double disk kits and should give you incredible reliability.
Peter said the kits will be ready to ship in the next couple of weeks!!!
BornReady6.5 05-16-2006, 06:29 PM I have only had my handshaker for just under 2 weeks so I am just getting in on this topic. I have been spending lotsa time reading threads.
Anyway, is there a power output cutoff between the ceramic and organic? If so, what is it?
Also, you say it will be available in a few weeks....is there a closer ballpark pricing? I think I read around $1000 in another thread..is that still close?
According to my Vin Check, my flywheel has been replaced 3 times in 65,000 miles! the first was at 19,000, and the latest was at 58,000. So I am very interested in these clutch kits, because my clutch is already acting funny.

The cost will be between $1000 and $1100.
Peter said the organic will be reliable at 450hp and the ceramic will be bumped to 500hp maybe just a little more but not much.
The DMF definently has plenty of issue's and that's why these aftermarket clutch's are worth their weight in gold!!
BornReady6.5 05-17-2006, 12:23 AM Great..keep us posted on when they are available and what not.
Also, I am assuming the organic is smoother, quieter, and wife friendlier of the two, correct?

They are both actually quiet. And the driveability will be pretty close but the organic is going to be more for a stock replacement to eliminate the problems with the DMF systems, the ceramic will be more for the guys with very mild performance mods like a single box or programmer that likes to horse around a little from time to time. Either one would be suitible for a wife to drive to the store with.
CPMac 05-17-2006, 04:08 PM IBDMAXIN 450 and 500 hp is considerably more than stock or 1 box or programmer. Just wondering what they'll actually be guaranteed for?
udflyer98 05-17-2006, 10:26 PM Going by the picture, I'm assuming it uses the stock pressure plate? If so, I'm also assuming that's why there isn't a huge difference in power rating between the organic and ceramic disk? Looks good.

Not trying to pick a fight but while being more than stock, single programmers are making good #'s. My one programmer is putting down 480 RWHP and that was before my CAI and lift pump. Thats why I went DD just to be on the safe side. My .02
Good to see Wade. Many people will be very grateful as some already are.(ie myself)
Also great video of your truck!

When I talked with Peter he was absolutly confident that the organic would have no problems holding 375-400hp and had no reason to believe that it wouldn't hold a little more than that if it wasn't abused. 475-500hp would be what the ceramic would hold. Guess I should have been a little more clear on the exact holding levels.
But the big thing here is to get rid of the factory system and replace it with something better.

MaxRock 05-19-2006, 01:11 PM Wade,
One question...the HP numbers you are quoting, are these RWHP or at the engine?
Thanks,
MaxRock

dls64chev 05-20-2006, 12:43 PM Are the flywheels for the single disc going to fit as tight as the dd flywheels do. I heard they fit awful tight and their might be an issue if you ever had to remove the flywheel. Also does the kit come with a new pressure plate or do you use the old one. Thanx for any info.

Actually the complaints that you heard of before were do to some mis-machining by just a little bit, but the problem has been corrected. So the answer to your question is No, it won't be as tight a fit as some of the double disk kits.
Cheers,
Wade
CPMac 05-22-2006, 02:34 AM Wade is the performace organic disc a 8100 gas disc with SBC material? Looks like it is but I was just wondering if that disc assembly is actually going to be used for the duramax or if it's just a picture of the material that will be used?

I'm not entirely sure to tell you the truth, you might take that one up with Peter, or the next time I have a chance to chat with him I'll ask him.
udflyer98 05-22-2006, 10:58 PM It's been almost 7 years since I worked at LuK in the prototype department, but that appears to be a different clutch from the one used on the 8100. The 8100 uses a series damper because of the torque involved, but looks more like a conventional small block clutch than the one pictured.
