Howdy all,

On friday i drove my girlfriend home to New Jesey. On saturday afternoon i returned to my CT home to find my Duramax sitting in a new location. Turns out my brother Censored came over the house and took my truck for a joy ride. I keep the keys to all the vehicles in the same spot so he knew where to get them. I was thinking of putting in an inline switch on the ignition wire so that even with a key someone cannot take my truck without my permision. So basically im looking for the following:

-- Location of ignition wire (easiest position where i could cut it and splice in an extra length of wire with a switch.)

-- Color and description of the wire so i know i have got the correct one.

-- Comments and cautions about finding the wire and splicing into it.

Thanx for the help guys!!!

Pink wire under steering column is ignition. Yellow is starter. They will be the biggest wires of that color there.

I want to put a normally-open switch inline so that the button needs to be pushed in addition to the key. would i want to put that on the ignition or the starter wire? also what exactly is the difference between an ignition wire and a starter wire?

-- Thanx

you would need to put it on the starter wire.

Ignition supplies power to the PCM etc.

Starter just provides power to the starter relay to tell it to crank.

A cheaper and not so difficult solution is to beat your brother with a bat. Repeatedly.
