I am in the market for a used truck and like the duramax diesel in a 2002 crewcab truck.

I noticed when i took the oil fill cap off their was some blow by, another duramax on the lot did not have any.

My 400,000 k 6.5 turbo diesel does not have any.

Is this normal for a duramax?

The truck has 80,000 k on it and had a fifth wheel on it.

The truck lot is going to take the truck to the dealer to have them look at it (still under warrenty).

Any ideas??

Thank you!

If the other truck did have the same amount of blow by it might indicate a problem. There could be cylinder wear or a problem with the crankcase ventilation system.

The maximum crankcase pressure is 4 kPa or 16 in of water at 3,100 RPM measured at the oil level indicator tube

I passed on the pickup and bought a 98 express van...........less then half the cost.

No blowby on the new 6.5 either!
