If your even thinking of going to the upper realm of diesel killer, you better have a deep deep wallet. You'll need a top tranny upgrade first. If it's the 6 speed, I'm sorry, no good upgrades for that yet. Funny thing is the diesels make 1200 to 1400 f/t with only about 500 to 700 hp. The gasser will take nearly as much hp to make the same torque. Not very user frendly of a ride. Super Diesel

1100hp and 1100ftlbs nicccccccceeeee out of an 8.1! I Could handle that! The reason for asking is hp3 crate engine has a bunch of nice parts to it, and is design for wide open throttle boat racing(can we say durable). 525hp and 562ftlbs on 87 octane. And since this is my daily drive it be nice to have another motor in the works. And yes I will need a trans upgrade, out with allison, In with nicely done 4L80E trans, and gear swap to 4.56's. streetable yes, mileage friendly no. fun to drive and not worry about 1600 degrees egt's yes.

And beside my 8.1 is wounded so other set back, had a small fire by the trans while romping through a soft field. Torch off the range selector on the side of the trans, and burn off all the wiring that goes to it. Hours and dollars later I got towed back to a buddy's house and hours with new range selector and making new leads for wiring harness got it to start. limp home for 2.5 hours. third gear all the way. Also note to the wise the thing that hold the cable thats connected to the shift arm on the trans also burns off. set e-brake put drive(get under the truck) when in a pinch. Why do I do this why why, I see nice soft muddy field at a buddy's house(his land) Could I stop at one pass through the mud,NO had to push my luck. mud tires throwing a 15 foot roost of mud, the 8.1 growling hard, inching along. Maybe that why.
