: Mileage vs. Hours
Hello all!
I am curious to know what type of hours people have on thier trucks vs. the accumulated mileage. Its interesting to see what the average speed has been as well.
49,150 Km (30,718 miles)
727 Hours
Avg speed: 67.6 Km/hr and I don't do a lot of idleing or stop and go driving either.
chuntag95 04-23-2004, 11:25 AM 37500 miles in 1500 hours or 25 mph. I think that matches your avitar. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif
GassedRacing 04-23-2004, 11:36 AM 357.4 hours @ 13122 miles averaging 36.72mph. Not bad for mostly city driving.

Turfmower 04-23-2004, 11:52 PM Im not sure on duramax but on my other equipment hours is based off Rpm at Idle hours goes up much slower than at full Rev.
idahofox 04-24-2004, 12:22 AM what ? ? ?
Idle_Chatter 04-24-2004, 08:07 AM Turfmower, that's pretty strange - your components are calculating some kind of "engine wear hours" based on rpm? Every hour meter that I've ever seen is a "clock" that counts the number of hours of switched-on 12v (or 6v or 24v) power. I couldn't find a comfirmation in the tech manuals, but I'd bet that the DMax hour meter is an actual ignition-on clock.
Bullseye54 04-24-2004, 09:37 AM On my '02 3500-45851mi @ 1556.5hr=29.4mph
'03 2500-19987mi @ 478.2hr=41.7mph
Tinbender 04-24-2004, 01:12 PM 31887 miles averaging 36.5 MPH and14.1 MPG mostly towing.

Turfmower 04-24-2004, 03:50 PM Both of my desiel tractors the hour meter is run off tac so the faster you run the engine the faster the clock runs. Edited by: Turfmower

3500LLY 04-24-2004, 07:20 PM Our older John Deere tractors hour meters are based on rpm but our newer ones are an actual calculation of time. I'm guessing this is the same situation in these trucks.

Matador;
When the engine is off - push in and hold the trip meter/odo pin until the hours show up.

Even the new John Deere tractors have the weird hour meters. Mine is new and the hours clock up much faster at working speed than idle. I think JD is the only one that ever used this set up.
dmax lover 04-27-2004, 01:10 PM 11000 miles 478 hours.
23 mph average. It idles for 5-10 minutes prior to my drive to work that is only 15 minutes...
