: Getting the headlight switch out???

I posted a thread earlier and asked how I hook up my gauges to the dimmer switch and somebody told me that it was the purple wire behind the headlight switch. I took off my dash but can't get the switch out so I can't see behind it. Is there an easy way to get back there to hook these wires up?

I just got the truck so I don't want to break anything.

Thanks,
Chris

Just release the tabs at the top and bottom and the whole 'module' comes out.

I was doing that but it would come out and like I said I didn't want to break anything. I'll try it again tomorrow.

Thanks

I just did this last night. Doing the same thing you're doing. I had to take off the panel below the steering wheel. There are two 7mm? screws on the
bottom coners. Take them out. Then the top corners have big guide pins
and a clip next to each pin. Just pull out, carefully, and the clips will
release. The one next to the door came out first for me. I had to tug a
lot harder for the one next to the radio.

Once this panel is out of the way the module with the lights, 4wd, cargo
and fog lamps, and the A/C duct drop down and out. I was very pleased
to see that the wiring harness has a fair bit of play. One of the good
things about going to computer control is that the wires don't carry
very much current now. Most of the wires in the harnesses were very
small gauge, which makes them very flexible.

You actually don't have to pull the whole thing out. You can remove just the headlight switch. You also don't have to remove the bottom panel, 7mm screws etc to do that.

...and it's the brown/white wire for the dimmer...unless the '03 is different than the '05.

That may be, but I was afraid of breaking something, not knowing how it all goes together. Like most, I suspect, I hate crawling around under a dash
and by removing a few more things it seems to give me easier access.
