Has anyone tried this? I can't imagine it working but it might be worth a try. I had one on my '98 gasser and it made it whistle like it had a turbo...everyone who rode in it thought it did.
Thoughts?

That's what I thought...a general waste of money. I'm trying to learn if a change in airflow in the intake will help anything...isn't is being heavily squeezed by the turbo charger anyway? Why do people waste time making things like this?

"Tornado" type products have never proven themselves to do anything to fuel injected engines except reduce HP. Air flows faster without obstructions than it does with obstructions, and "swirling" only helps if you are trying to fill the cylinder. No "Tornado" type device can affect the cylinder swirl at all. They are too far from the valves.
The only time they could possibly help is to increase atomization of carburated engines so you get better mileage.
People always want "easy" HP. Problem is, most the automotive companies have figured out all the easy ways to get power and have incorporated them already.

better improvements in performance come from adjusting your floor mat than a air spinner or spacer on a dieselhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Eric,
That's the same problem I am having...what the heck are they thinking by selling something like this?
In any case, I decided to rip all the emblems off the truck for a more aerodynamic shape and I removed all the CDs from their cases to shed some ballast and by God, she's faster! Wa hoo! Didn't cost me a dime. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

The whistle does sound cool though, adds more to the turbo when you have the AFE stage II. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Yeah, I already pulled the seats as forward as possible. I wanted it more front heavy in case all that torque hit at once and I wheelied over backward.
As for the diet idea...don't laugh. I did that when I was racing my bike. Instead of spending a couple of $$$ on some new part(s), I would set a goal to lose 10-20 pounds and you'd be so suprised how much quicker I would go. Of course, on the DMax, I might need to get me some o' dat Trim Spa stuff like Anna Nicole so I can really be lean and mean http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
Thanks for all the smart-a** remarks...no more stupid questions outta me...
