Just got truck back from dealer for injector replacement. Truck has 2200 miles on since service. Two days ago I pulled a 12,000 lb trailer around from job site to job site. I noticed white smoke coming from tail pipe. (Normally pretty thick cloud of black). Shut off truck checked all fluids and anti-freeze, everything o.k.

Today pulled same trailer around, again white smoke. Checked all fluids, same answer.

Could this be injectors seating? Could this be the tip of the head gasket Iceberg? Anyone else have this.

The dealer that I bought truck from is not the dealer that I had work on the truck. However, I talked to the salesman and they told me if the problem doesn't go away after a few days, notify them and they will do the best they can to get me a new motor.

I have had the truck for a year and it's been on the rack a total of 41 days. The dealer also understands that if I am not happy, there goes 15 trucks a year for my family's business fleet away from there dealer to maybe F**d or D***e!

Thanks for all the help!

if all your fluids are okay, meaning coolant level and no diesel in the oil...you may want to check your air filter if it is clogged or restricted it could cause white smoke under heavy loads...you could have a injector stuck open but if you just had all 8 done that is not very likely to be the concern...another posible cause could be a sensor ie:coolant temp or fuel pressure sensor operating out of range. i could give you a better diag if i had the injector flow rates of all 8 injectors.

Will the truck throw a code if these said sensors are bad? I just had a complete oil + fuel filter change done 1000 miles ago. if there is fuel leaking into the oil. will there be enough to tell on a test?

When they replaced injectors, the mechanic broke one of the fuel rails, the dealer replaced both sides and for some reason, the waste gate actuator looks exceptionally clean and shiney. Do they replace these items ever? Maybe just a figment of my imagination. Remember, I have 42000 miles and am in dirty dusty areas 10-15 a day, so the engine is really dirty. So anything new, stands out like a sore thumb.

Almost forgot, I have a K&N filter on the truck, just cleaned it two weeks ago, so hopefully that isn't the problem either.

Thanks for the info. If I can get the flow rates I will. Can I get these rates with a tech ll. My buddy has one.

You may have put too much oil on the filter......if the oil gets on to the MAF sensor it could give a false reading.....take some non clorinated brake parts cleaner (aprox $1.50) at autozone and spray your MAF sensor, should dry pretty quick.the brake cleaner won't hurt the MAF sensor.

as far as a bad sensor setting DTC's if the sensor is in the operating ranges but not reading the accuate temps or pressures the answer is NO it won't throw a DTC....
