Not for most of us.

Your right

The only penis checkers around here are in the overheating LLY trucks. There is a daily length of how deep they want to pile it on till we get pissed off and start throwing some people OUT!

But I would put a charger on a timer to be safe!

Looks like you're lucky you didn't lose the whole shop. Was it is an old charger? Was it the battery the started on fire or the charger?

Yea I was lucky. The fire used up all the o2 in the building and extinguished itself. If it had vented , I would have lost everything. The charger was about 12 yrs old. Which one started the fire I do not know.

Man you were lucky!

Hope you had insurance to cover your losses.

Thanks for the tip. I'll never leave a charger plugged in unattended ever again. Before I would have never gave it a second thought.

I have so many solvents and gasoline in my shop, it would have taken out everything.

Sorry to see that.I guess a little common sense goes a long ways.I will be moving all my flammables out of the shop.

I've got the charger hooked up to the boat battery right now, I was going to leave it on all night, but I think I'll be unpluging it tonight! Thanks for the heads up.

A fire investigator could likely tell you if it was the charger or the battery. It was most likely the battery that started on fire.

Wow, That could have been way worse. Sorry to see about your losses.

I've left the battery charger on several times in the past... I'll think twice next time.

Me too....I keep mine on all year long....but I don't think those are a problem...Seeing as they only charge when they need charging.

You have it hard wired or do you clip it on?

I got the Wally-Mart model on my two r.v. batteries all the time now, kinda worrysome to think they might torch my garage some day.

gschulte, if I may ask, what brand of charger was it? Thanks. Bad enough, but it could have been worse and good no one got hurt.

I believe it was a schumacher. Not sure, there was nothing left but the shell.
The charger was 10-15 years old and I believed it charged all the time.
