Is this the TTS down pipe or are you talking about the intermediate pipe that goes between the down pipe and the rest of the exhaust. Did it bolt directly to the turbo or did it bolt to the down pipe that you access through the wheel well?

I'm glad this topic came up, does anyone actually have A REAL aftermarket TURBO DOWNPIPE installed on there truck?, for those that don't know thats the pipe that bolts to the back of the turbo that runs down b/t the back of the engine and the firewall.

Everyone with an aftermarket turbo has a bigger down pipe.

Ah ha,

How would you go about sqeezing it in there? Beating the firewall maybe? Or applying some heat if a torch is handy? It looks really tight in there.

All the current "true" downpipes I'm aware of require either beating the shiit out of your firewall or moving the trans dipstick or both.

Our kit does require you to use our new dipstick tube if you have an automatic but no beating of the firewall needed.

McRat, who else besides TTS makes true downpipes right now? I was under the impression that they were the only ones out there. Thanks

BD Power makes one for their turbo, and so does ATS I believe but again it is for their turbo.

I think that magnaflow sells a down pipe for our set-up, but I was a bit worried because the dealership said it could void the warrenty, because it cause the turbo to spool to quickly, so I just got the cat-back system

The other downpipes come in the turbo kits, ATS and BD. TTS is the only aftermarket one that I'm aware of that fits the stock charger.

They might call it a downpipe but it is not a downpipe. It is an intermediate pipe or a 'cat delete' pipe.

Sorry guys I must have miss lead you I installed what I thought was a down pipe but what really is a cat delete pipe what you guys would call it. Sorry about that. Still its a hell of an improvement over stock.

How much does the down pipe help as far as EGT's are concerned ?

Diesel Tech

The downppipe will reduce the EGT about 25 - 50 deg under normal driving. Under full load pulling a trailer about 75 - 100 deg. You will also gain about 1 -2 pounds of boost and it will spool quicker. The pipe starts at the turbo as two pipes that merge into one pipe so it's different sizes in different spots but, at the bottom its 4". This requires the front pipe or cat delete pipe to be changed as well since it is only 3 1/2". Both pipes come in our kit.

im looking for the TRUE down pipe for my 06 .
1 is the flange on our turbos the same as previous years or did thay change it because there is no more wastegate setup to deal with?
2 how much for JUST the down pipe i do not nead the front pipe do to i am making my own exhaust setup and can make my own flange to match the down pipe nor do i nead the trans dipstick tube because i have the ZF.

this question is drected more to "Diesel Tech"

WE have not checked the kit on the '06 yet. We have the truck but will not get it tested till later this year.

myojunk

Our test results are from a LB7 with our Tow program installed.
