I straight piped my 5" lb7 and my friends stock lly. The sound is much better on both. They sound totally different though. Lb7 is raspier and the turbo whine on the lly is insane. I would say that my 6.5td is a mix between both sounds. Anyway just wanted to share my excitement about the new noise we created. For those who are thinking about it, go for it. The sound is:drop_mout

I already like the sound of my system, but I'm in love with this new sound. We took of my friends muffler first. Pretty good sound out of the truck. Couldn't tell any difference in the cab. Then we put my downpipe on his truck. No Cat makes all the difference in the world. That thing sounds like a jet taking off.

When we finished both of them we did a test run and drove past each other to see what they sounded like outside the truck. My friend said he could feel it in his chest when i went past.):h

Not to steal your thread, but does BANKS make a muffler delete pipe? I have a BANKS cat-back W/ a MBRP front pipe.

I don't know what size you are running but 4" pipe is readily available. Just measure the distance of the muffler, and go to a muffler shop.

Just had mine done for only $70 at a local shop. Love it! It's got to breath better, I would think.

What is the biggest difference in sound between a 5inch Straight Pipe on an LB7 and a 4inch Straight Pipe on an LB7? I was thinking about going to a 5inch if it was louder or if the turbo whistle was louder.

Even if it is no louder and there is no more turbo whistle than a 4 inch, a 5 inch pipe with a chrome tip looks sick! :ro) :cool2:

How is the drone sound in the cab I want to remove my muffler but don't want it any louder in the cab. Going on 3000 mile trip next week too.

There is less drone imo. The muffler causes it to resonate more. It is louder under acceleration with no muffler. I haven't pulled with it yet. Overall cab noise it not a lot of difference
