I have heard of people swapping the cummins into fords and chevy's but what other diesel engines have been swapped into the 88- 98 body style chevy's. I'm only asking cause after hauling a bobcat around in my 94 6.5 then in my moms 01 ford powerstroke I really want a better motor. Is it possible to put the new cheyv diesel into them?

Buy a wrecked DuraMaxx truck, complete.
Park it next to your truck.
Remove the front clip, then strip your truck - engine, trans, wiring, computer.
Transfer everything from the DuraMaxx - only slight nudge to the floorpan to clear the Allison, offset engine support brackets, other normal swap-in-totally-different-style-engine-transmission problems.
Not direct drop-in, but having donor truck eases the transplant.
Have not done it, but investigated it early on, because that's what I do. And, am observing one being done, even as we type.
I'm working towards Cummins transplant. I want the 18-wheeler sound for my big dooley - turbo singing, six-cylinder purring.Edited by: gmctd

Or work with what you've got and modify your 6.5. A bigger exhaust pipe, removal of intake restriction and a boost control will work wonders.

True, and if you would like to kick your 6.5 up to around 240hp, check out TurbineDoc's post, down the page a bit.
Not nearly as expensive as a DuraMax conversion.
