: Fuel Filter Recall - I am Ticked !!

Concerning an earlier post I searched and read re: the fuel filter recall issue with GM.

In October (I am in Alberta, Canada) I took my truck in to the dealer and asked about the recall .. they told me my truck was not eligibled (04 - LLY). I thought so be it. :)

But I wanted my OEM (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/autolink.php?id=62&script=private&forumid=) Fuel Filter replaced none the less. .... I just went yesterday afternoon to check the OEM filter number ... the one they installed ... 97385488 !!:(

Please ... can someone confirm with certainty ... from what I have searched and read in previous posts it would appear that I have been "ripped off" with old product (single pleat filter)? .. either they didn't know because they didn't pay attention or perhaps they knowingly tried to "sluff off" a (substandard) filter that they (the dealer) were told by GM not to use anymore? If this is the case - I am really ticked   .

I want to have my facts straight because ... when I go back to confront the dealer I dont want them "blowing a bunch of smoke" at me and try to wiggle out with some lame excuse.

in advance, thanks for any help / commnets you may have on this ...

best regards .. rudyk

Old style: TP1298 - single pleat do not use
second style: TP1298A GM Number: 97385488 - double pleat small can OK to use
newest style :TP1298-B GM# 98017645 - double pleat large can

You can use either the A or B filter, as the elements are the same. The B is just larger

Diesel Fanatic - Thanks for clearing this up for me ... I am glad I didn't jump the gun here and give the dealer a rough time.

Oh, even if you had given the dealer a rough time: that is still fine. They deserve the "rough time" from you: you're just repaying for somebody else that should have gotten on their butt.

Ya, give the guy behind the service counter a hard time.:badidea: Because they built the truck and sold it to ya. They probably wrote the recall too.
