Hi guys need some expert advise on the LLY cuz I know notta about them. I have a buddy with an 05 who tows a 9k trailer around the West to the senior league softball tournaments. One of his buddies has a Cummins with a mild chip and a 5th Wheel that weighs about 1500 lbs more than my friend. He kicks my buddies butt going up the hills and it is driving my friend nuts. He came to me and wanted to know what he could do to put a little more power under the hood without doing any serious mods. I have talked him into an aftermarket airfilter but he want to leave the rest stock. He also would like to get some better fuel economy if possible. I told him I would try and find out from the experts what is available will go from there. So what is available and why do you like it? I think a plug in programmer would be the best since he can return it to stock for warranty work. Thanks...Subman

Just put the 65hp tune from my new Predatorn my truck and WOW :D !!! I can't believe the power. And to think that there are 2 power levels left (if the tranny could handle it). I would recommend a Predator. Installation of the tune took about 5 minutes. The Edge is good too, but I have no experience with it. Also, if your buddy wants to tow, I would recommend a boost guage and a pyrometer to monitor what is going on. If you look at my sig, you will also see the CAI, the boost stick, and the blocker plate. This should make for one awesome towing rig. After I get my new 5th wheel this month, I will know for sure. Can't wait!

Exhaust then guages then Predator or EdgeEZ. Intake IMHO is a waste of $$.

If he only wants to upgrade the intake then you really don't want to be adding any power to the engine. You gotta make her breath... If you just install a tune you will build too much heat with the stock exhaust. If he doesn't upgrade the exhaust then an egt gauge would have to be installed. My suggestions would be the same as SLAYER.... exhaust/gauges/tuner. The stock intake would be sufficient for that amount of added power... If you did upgrade the intake you would get more turbo noise.... not a bad thing, just something to consider. My .02

If he's got the gauges to keep tabs on things, I'd say Boost Stick with either the Edge or the Predator. He shouldn't have any trouble outpulling most stuff on the road.
4" exhaust would be nice, but that might be more than he's after.
The Boost Stick is the best money a trailer puller could spend in my opinion.

Thanks for the input guys. I gave him the list and priority so we'll see what he does. You have heard of squeezing a nickel right? I think my buddy Jim invented the concept. :)
