It's the power mods I'm shying away from. This truck will be more show than go. Look and sound good without worrying as much about warranty or destruction http://dieselplace.com:82/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

This truck is a 2004. It comes stock with NO cat, 3 1/2" out the turbo back to the muffler, than a 4" tailpipe.. stock.

All that comes off and is being replaced with this system. It's aluminized steel for budget reasons.

The rear turbo outlet is 4" inside diameter and will accept a full 4" downpipe. Looking at the picture you see the 4" downpipe gozinto a 4-5" pipe and it 5 the rest of the way... NO muffler.

The tip is a 4-6" polished stainless honker that had the 4" end plasma cut at 5" dia section. It will get welded on when the install is complete.

MAC... the guy makes them. You assemble the exhaust and weld on the stock type hangers in the stock locations. Makes for a nice semi-custom install.

Total price less than $500 shipped.

Stacks and a train horn http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif
Stacks are cool but I'm not that radical.
Not really about pride owning a particular brand anymore. I do have a blast starting from scratch again deciding what I want the look to be.

BTW Max Power.... the Dodge ad campaign is pretty ... well i can't even decribe it. The brochure shows a bunch of young men and women hanging around an open hood looking at the Hemi.... Caption starts out... "Sweeeeet, it's got a HEMI"

So i know what you mean.Edited by: hoot

Our local CBS station is now running an ad using the "Hemi" theme. Their weather guy won an Emmy for his weather reporting. The ad has him pull up to a stop sign in a new Chevy. Sitting next to him are a couple of guys in a mid 80's Chevy. Those two guys ask him "Hey, that thing got an Emmy in it?". He replies back "Sure does". They then race away from the stop sign, new Chevy winning of course.

I just got finished installing the H2 wheels and tires tonight. Got some good pics including the machining of the wheels on a big CNC machine today. I'm still playing around outside.

Got back from a test drive and was pleasantly surprised. This truck did not even feel the difference in tires. As a matter of fact, it actually rides better. I never would have thought that cause when I put 32.5's on the DMax, it was a pretty big change. But those tires were a different brand, I think the Goodrichs from the H2's have a softer ride so it might not be a fair comparison.

Power wise this truck doses not know I put significantly larger tires on ot. Gotta love it!

Exhaust probably this weekend. I wanted to get the tires on so I could fine tune the garbage can tip position.

Truck is looking tough.

Hey Hoot, did the exaust system you bought come with the clamps to connect the pipes, or did you have to buy them seperate?

hoot
04-23-2004, 06:24 PM
It came with 1/2" thick weld on hangers and one 4" stainless strap type clamp for the downpipe to sewer pipe connection. It is designed to be a weld on system. I ordered 4 5" clamps seperately.

Hey Hoot! Have you installed the exaust system yet? Just wondering how much louder the sound of the motor is? Does it sound beefier? More turbo sound? I have to save up for this purchase.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif You went Aluminized steel. Do they sell all aluminum pipes or all stainless for your application? Warranty?

http://dieselplace.com:82/forum/uploads/A1F_DSCN5239.jpg

The muffler inlet measured only 3 1/4" inside diameter.
http://dieselplace.com:82/forum/uploads/F49_DSCN5237.jpg

The advertised stock 3 1/2" downpipe actually only measured about 3 1/4 ID at the mouth. The replacement measures close to 3 3/4" at the mouth and immediately opens to 4".

Here are to old and new downpipes.

LOL

CTD 600... that was funny.

It's got a mean tuba drone at certain power levels and rpms. When I'm out raising eyebrows it's fun but pulling into church this morning was real light throttle http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif experience.

My wife loved the "jet engine" sound coming out of the tailpipe well after I shut er down.
