Does anyone here own a Topkick or Kodiak 4500 with a Duramax and a factory installed exhaust brake (option K40 from the dealer)? I am curious who the manufacturer of the exhaust brake is. Edited by: PeterT

Several years ago, B-D told me that they had submitted a proposal to GM for an OEM brake. Perhaps it is theirs. Obviously not yours - too bad, as I sure like mine.

I have heard that SAB WABCO (a Swedish company) is the manufacturer, but have been unable to confirm that.

You could always buy one, put it through it's paces, calling it "competitive assessment" http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

Good luck Peter!

I think it is Wabco. I checked into it and had the part numbers. Problem is the cost is as high as aftermarket and the flanges on the 5500 I looked at are not the same as on a pickup exhaust.
