alright im ready to lift my truck up im just not sure how high i want to go i would love to do the 10-12 cognito with 40s but how much extra do i have to do driveshaft, gears, etc thats why it makes me want to lean towards the 6in lift with 36s because of less to do because well money doesnt grow on trees im 18 and i pay for my truck myself but my mom said she would pay for half my lift for my graduation from fire academy this june but i have to pay for the tires wheels and whatever else i need so what do you think is the best way to go and is the price difference that much between the 2 because im willing to spend some money on quality but dont want to spend alot on extra stuff well get back to me sorry if i was vauge

It sounds like you should go with the 7-9" Cognito kit

CST also makes a good 6-8" kit as well

Im not sure of the price differences between the two, but they are both good applications for what your trying to accomplish

I have the 12" BP kit and all that will be "required" that a 6" kit might not involve is lengthening the front shaft and you will probably need some some steps for anything over 6".

Well Matt, first off, welcome to the DP forums and congratulations on your new LBZ. I have lifted several trucks so please heed what I am about to tell you. You can still make your truck look good with a 6" lift and get all the babes you want for alot less money. The lift isnt the cost factor, its the wheels and tires that will set your 18 yr old income back a bunch. A 10-12" lift is awesome looking but you can better serve your monetary values with a 6" lift and still gain the bling your looking for. These are purely words of advise to an 18 yr old looking for a "hot looking" truck to wow the babes (if thats your objective) for alot less cash.

No matter what you decide to do, remember that continued maintenance, tires and service on this new truck will cost you money and the less you lift, the smaller the wheels/tires, the more cash you will have to spend on the babes.

I love the looks of a lifted truck, trust me, I've owned several. Spend your money wisely and in the long run, you'll be much happier. Do plenty of research because once you make this change, it will be difficult to reverse.

Once again, welcome to the forums. :welcome:

I concur with Rcher. Go with the 6" kit for now and run 315s. One of the things I learned while in my "hot rod" phase--which included 9 years of drag racing--is that a daily driver needs to be more "street" than "strip". A 6" lift looks very nice and will be reliable and fairly low maintenance.

I went with a 4" lift and 33" tires becasue my primary concern is performance and duarbility. My truck hardly looks lifted at all, but it works well for everything I ask of it, which includes: daily driving, hunting, and long trips with the family. I can still park my truck in a garage with a 7' high door (barely) and it will fit in most car washes.

I think you should decide what you want most and temper that with what you need most. I see that as settling somewhere around a 6" lift.

Young guys use trucks hard, so don't go over 35" tires on a 6" lift. You'll thank us in the long run.

Go with the 10-12 Cognito....im 20 and I love it! Along with the girls they dig the jacked up trucks! I have 37's and they look dumb thats why I am upgrading to 40s this summer with 4.56 gears. Dont worry about your driveshaft having to be longer! Also you might want to invest in some traction/ladder bars to prevent axel wrap...i learned the hard way..

The six serves me well.I can run 285's on stock rims all winter and not look dumb.In the summer,I run 35's and it's plenty big enough. If you want dependability, and low to no maintenance,I wouldn't go over six in.Good luck.

i would go with a simple 6" kit i was like you wanted a huge lift but once i started to look around i found out that there were alot of places my truck wouldn't of been able to go and trust me the ladies at the lakes and rivers love it when i have it cleaned most of them complain when the truck is to tall

Yes! I like the lift. So far only a minor problem. Overall a very well put together kit and the bilstiens and rear sway bar make the truck handle better then stock!
