The very edge of my driver side door, where it contacts the B-pillar is ever so slightly chipping (very very small, you'd never notice it if you didnt look), probably because when I shut the door, the seal gives a little bit and lets the door skin contact the door jamb. This kind of annoyed me...has anyone used anything like the 3M clear sheild stuff on that edge and does it work well? Can you see the ugly edge of the clear sheild, or is it not visible unless you look close? Any other ideas for keeping this from chipping? Also I have some misc tiny scratches on random areas of the truck....does any of that filling compound or scratch remover work? Id rather deal with the scratch than use ugly touch up paint, which looks even worse...

thanks
ben

I actually had color matched charcoal door edge guards on my 300ZX at one time. They were dealer installed and were that skinny, rubber/plastic u-channel type that slip over the edge of the door. Barely noticible but worked great. Does this help you now? NO. BUT, it does let you know that the stuff is available if someone may know where to find it. Good luck! That's the best I can do.

Maybe you need the door adjusted?

Those tinted compounds don't work for beans in my experience. Same with scratch removers. Best bet is probably a full-on buff/wax/polish detail.

For the door edge chipping, get some of that chrome press-on u-channel crap. If you're not familiar, drive around any city for about 5 minutes. You can apply it to all edges and outline every body panel. :phatyo:

Then get some chrome trim for your flares... :bling:

Wax it up and call it a day. Or drop a few clams and have someone else do it. Either way, you're the only one who will know where the scratches are...

My truck doesn't have scratches - it's got 'experience'...

my friend's brand new '05 (4900 miles) has the same thing happening to it!

I think im gonna put a little strip of rubber or something on there so it doesnt hit the inside jamb against the B pillar...
