Well I have gotten a squeal that I just can't figure out. I am guessing that it is the clutch but not positive. It seems to only do it once the truck is warmed up a little and it only happens when it is moving. The worst part of this is that it does not do it all the time. I have pushed the clutch in, still did it. I pushed the clutch in, went to neutral-still did it. Went to neutral, let out the clutch, still did it. I think that it got a little louder today as the rpms climbed. It does not do it once you get higher in the rpms, or the engine/exhaust is drowning it out. I really don't want to pull the tranny out again, but if I must. I have slipped the clutch a couple of times, could there be enough of a glazing that it would cause it, but not enough that it would effect anything? Any ideas will be helpful. I might try and get a sound clip of it sometime and post it. Thanks guys

It may be the carrier bearing.... my buddys 6spd has done that 2 times, and only has 50,000 on the truck now..it has a stock clutch in it at the moment.. if not cheak your front wheel bearings and half shafts...

It could also be a rear brake draggin'.. We have an 8.1 allison truck for a service truck and it dose that about every other time you move it...but just for about 100 yards..

Hope this helps....if not ..let me know

Haven't had a chance to check things out yet. Noticed more lately that it will only do it under a load, well anytime you give it fuel. I almost cut my finger pad off with a compound miter saw yesterday so it might be a while before I can go checking things out. Anyway to lube the carrier bearing or just have to change it? Thanks

Another thing to check is where the driveshaft slides into the transfercase. The driveshaft spins on the seal and have found mine gets dry every so often and makes a squeeling noise. It took me a long time to figure that one out:rolleyes:. The noise depends on how hot the truck(driveshaft) is as well as the load. A little aluminum complex grease smeared on the shaft-seal seems to fix the problem for awhile.

Thanks nobull1, I will have to check that one out. That is one other thing that I forgot to mention, the noise does not happen during the winter--cold or wet enough to not allow it.

Well you are now a member of the noisy seal club:rolleyes:(that's the noise the club makes just before.........well we won't go there;)):h. Now that you have found the problem let us know when you find a permanent solution. The grease and oil only seems to last so long.

So what there 3 of us now? I wonder if this is more of a common thing? Working on my seal is on the list, to bad it's a long one...
