Well it's a 86 6.2 Military truck, I can see the fuel leaking from the back of the filter housing. I re-tightend both valves on the filter housing with no luck. I replaced the filter as well, no luck. THe filter housing is discontinued. HAs anyone removed the filter set up and installed a Napa universal spin on base with a spin on filter? Any ideas? ALso is the water drain valve gasket/o-ring on the filter housing availible for replacement? Napa # anyone?

Thanks
Matt

You can replace it with NAPA parts but remember that thing acts as your fuel pump, heater, air & water seperator as well. I plan to do that in the future and have read up on it (sorry, no links) so I can confirm it can be done. In the meantime I've seen several OEM, new & used, on eBay. So you have a choice.

Is it possible that it is leaking via the pressure sensor? These commonly leak on the Military filter housings.

I suppose he should pull it off and look:exactly:

BTW, where is the pressure sensor:o::o::o:

I have converted to spin on filters, but not by choice. Previous owner got rid of the box filter and added a Racor 30mic filter/water seperator, but didnt add a secondary. As said above, because of it I lost the WIF/pressure sensor and fuel heater, besides secondary filtration.

If youre really interested in doing it I will gladly give you numbers and tips. But Id suggest to keep your system.

Am I correct in that most 6.2Ls don't have secondary filtration? Or is it that the stock filter is actually two filters?

Damn, I'm reading a lot of info and I'm sure I'm retaining some of it but sometimes it seems I'm just getting confused:o::o::(:(

Well I converted it today using a Napa 4770 base and I believe a 3057 filter. I didn't like changing it over to this set up but it is the best option for the circumstances. I had the original base off twice and couldn't find anything. Where exactly is the pressure sensor, can I get one from napa? These are wildland fire trucks that see about 500 miles max a year(if that)! I am not too worried about loseing the sensors. It is more important for these trucks to start up when needed. They are also stored in heated fire houses. there is only the primary fuel filter on these military trucks as well. I will post pictures later, it turned out good and the air leak is gone!! If I missed something please let me know.

The sensor points straight out the bottom of the housing, on the right hand side. It is totally useless in the civvy world, and can be removed and plugged. I dont remember the details on plugging it, but I think it basically involves tapping the hole and putting a pipe plug in.
