I haven't seen anyone complaining about the LBZ getting hot the way the LLY did. Was the problem corrected in the LBZ, or is it because we haven't had a summer since the new version came out?

Just a quick update, broke 11,000 today I left 3 weeks ago with 700 , been running very hard and fast ( like Rick, LOL) milage about 10.5---70 + all the time 23,000lbs + all the time , seen 96 OAT , gets warm fan comes on and cools it down NOW! trans broke 205 couple times , NO ,I Repeat NO problems of any kind , Still I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!! Fan runs only on the most severe and longest grades and never for long.

I was getting a bit nervous last week... AAT was up in the 90s and the trans was running 200 in heavy traffic (not towing!). Hit the freeway, down a long grade, and it STILL didn't drop.
Finally, at the bottom of the grade, AATs had dropped to 80 or so and it started coming down to 175 or so.

Spooked me because I've never really noticed it getting above 150 except in heavy traffic when it's warm outside.

Engine temp never went above centerline.

I have a habit of checking my guages from running boats. Just bought a 06 and it's the same truck as my 03. I kind of forget that I'm in a different truck sometimes and it caught me the other day that the temps were a little higher than my 03 would normally run. Nothing higher than maybe 10 degrees on coolant and 20 on tranny.

A couple of weeks ago I did a lot of 2WD & 4WD High (to keep the truck "straight" at 50 to 60 mph) off road on curvy mountain gravel logging roads in Mexico for about 4 hours, constantly going up and down hills. Engine temp stayed at normal 190, but trans temp went to 210 (normally around 160). Trans was being worked hard in tow haul and I was in an out of the throttle constantly (I imagine mpg was about 8 or less). When I got to pavement and normal driving it cooled back down. I talked to Allison last week about this and they said it was normal, looked at my fluid, and said it was fine. It is scheduled for a transynd change anyway in the next 1000 miles. I've towed 15,000 trailers twice over the Cascades with no change in normal temps. I agree that for towing this summer in the Southwest will tell, or possibly the worst test, from Bakersfield to LA up the Grapevine in 105 degree heat and 90% smog.
